Hi guys, first off, I'd like to say how great of a community you guys have here. Everyone I have communicated with has been super quick, friendly and helpful. I was hoping I could get everyones opinion. I am buying my first rifle, which will be used for deer and moose. I have narrowed it down to 30-06 caliber, bolt action, now am just trying to decide on which Make and Model I would like to go with. All in I would like to be under $700.00. What I have found so far that I am interested in:

Used Browning A Bolt Composite Stalker with Bushnell Trophy 3x9x40 for just under $600.00
New Savage 10/110 walnut stock with Accutrigger and Weaver 3x9x40 for $600 and tax/shipping.

If anyone has any other options, I'm open to anything as long as the price is right. Looking forward to hearing everyones opinions. Cheers.

Ramakko’s here in Sudbury did a rifle & scope package for me with the 30-06 Ruger American ($399) and Bushnell Trophy XLT ($175ish). Came out to around $650 with tax, I can confirm the exact price if you want. No complaints about the rifle or scope!

I had a Stevens in 308. Nice shooting rifle. Hated the fact that it was a blind mag. Sold it and bought a weatherby vanguard. Been very happy with it.

I would, in your situation, go with the Browning and Bushnell that you've found. The Browning is a very good rifle and the Bushnell is a decent scope. All in all I like that package better than the Savage and Weaver combination. If you decide you want to upgrade the scope later on you'll be able to sell the Bushnell on the EE to offset your new purchase.

If you can get out to the range and try one of each type, that should help you
make the right choice. We all have likes & dislikes when it comes to guns, but
what feels and shoots best for YOU should be the deciding factor.:)
