Got to shoot a .44 mag today

44 mag is a great round. ... Only downside to 44 mag is factory ammo is a bit expensive at about $1/round. I definitely recommend reloading if shooting 44mag, I've been able to get down to $.18 per round.

X2 - tons of fun to shoot but so pricy if you don't reload..looks like I'm going to have to start reloading

Can you get lever action rifles in 460v? 4 different cartridges would be pretty neat.

Edit: Apparently not. 44 mag is the way to go if you want to do more than punch paper.

No expert by any means; shot a Ruger carbine in 44 Mag and I own a Ranchhand, no pistol experience with 44 Mag. But the ergonomics have got to be better than the Ranchhand
But the off-the-shelf ammo is borderline unpleasant in the Rossi one handed.
A reload with 2400 and 200 grain cast is a beautiful thing though, low muzzle blast and recoil, that 2400 was designed for the 44 Mag remember. It's an entirely different experience I've found.

One of the most satisfying experiences I've had shooting revolvers was making nice tight groups from a S&W 29 with 44spl LWC handloads, then hammering off a few cylinders of full-house 44Mag loads and watching the flame from the flash gap and muzzle, complete with the nice, firm adjustment to the joints of the wrist.

I shot a few pumpkins at the annual club pumpkin shoot last weekend. Those gourds didn't stand a chance vs 44mag and 460mag:)
