My T97NSR with handguard RIS installed

Some may agree with that. But I don't. When I get my xcr I only plan on spending 400-500 on optics. Not 2500... That's just me though lol

Why? You spend an exorbent amount of money on a rifle then cheap out on the optic? The only two quality optic i can think of is the zeiss and the aimpoint patrol at close to that pricepoint.

Shooting paper, Probably coyotes. And most importantly having fun!

What's wrong with irons? Or does the rifle come with no factory irons? A cheap optic failing is not fun dude, just spend a little extra like 550 for that hensoldt rsa-s that tactical imports has.

Think I could get something decent for 700ish? I'm poor And when I tell my girlfriend I dropped 1500 on a layaway deposit for an xcr she's going to kill me. So once I get the rest of the money to get it I'm not gonna have that much for optics but I still want to use it with a sight.

Magnified optics, if used and you score a good deal(I scored my zeiss conquest for 800 all in). for red dots take your pick many aimpoints the zeis trijicon rmr. 700 is plenty for a good red dot. Or if you can find a good used acog at the right price.

If you are tight for cash I am not so sure you should be getting a xcr, because if something does break, well you are gonna be hard pressed to get it fixed.

I don't think it should be an issue, I plan on getting the parts kit with it. And once I get over the 4 grand for the rifle ammo and optics, it won't be a problem.

I've owned just about every non restricted black rifle there is. And a ton of low and high end ar's.
I find the quality to meet or exceed the xcr's. Safety position and bolt release disregarded, the t97 is a better designed rifle. The xcr's barrel attachment method can be described as "hokey" at best, I suspect a lot of its inaccuracy stems from this design.
And in terms of general usefulness, I find it's compact size and good balance to make it more useful than something like my sl8.
It wouldn't be my one and only rifle, certainly. But it does make a great little nonrestricted "truck" gun.
I feel for dollars out and rifle in return, I'd certainly buy another one of these before another xcr or rfb. Certainly before a mini 14, m305, su-16, etc.
