No Hunting License – Fiancé Wants to Shoot, Gut, and Take-Home... Calgary

Good afternoon all,

Maybe somebody can help me out.

My fiancé is interested in shooting an animal, gutting it, and getting it butchered. The problem is I don’t have a hunting license and wouldn’t even know where to start – other than here.

Many years ago I had a friend with whom I went bow hunting on a game farm near Edmonton. I don’t believe he had a hunting license, but the owner of the farm did and helped with everything.

Any suggestions? We both have our firearms license.

Without a hunting licence you could try one of the wild boar operations in the province...no licence required.
 
Here's a suggestion... get hunting licenses.... If your fiance is that eager to do this at this point it will be a great investment of your time and money and you will have an activity you can do together for years to come....
 
Thanks for all the feedback. I'll get my license eventually, but she won't want to go more than once. I know her :)

For sure. Thank you. If she does consider going, even to stay at a cabin while I kill food... that would help me. Just got get started... and just getting a hunting license is probably not the right approach.
 
Get the licenses and head out. Maybe if you've spent the cash on the licenses it'll be more likely that she sticks with it...to get her money's worth.
