Glad you had a swift and seamless transaction, Kayser Sose! Hope you enjoy your new 1911. Some of us had to wait TWO MONTHS to get our gratification! LOL!

My two have been detail stripped and cleaned thoroughly, and all the rough spots smoothed out. Unfortunately I have not been able to get to a range yet. Also in the works is

a pancake holster or two... or perhaps I'll try my hand at something a little different in the way of holsters. CanAm sure seems like a good company to deal with!

And now they have an offer on a short barreled M14.... I must RESIST!!!

So after a bit of a battle with CanPar, I managed to get my 1911 last week.
Tossed the grips in the junk and completely dissassembled the unit to clean her out. I ended up using Ed Red's homebrew in my ultrasonic cleaner.
I will also do some slide lapping and get on ordering some new shiny bits.

Unfortunately I won't be able to test her out until I manage to join the Oshawa gun club (closest club that offers long gun and pistol ranges).

i was a guest at oshawa 3 weeks ago and they said they are not accepting new members. they have a waiting list that they'll address in April 2014 but it sounds like the list is fairly long already :(

That sucks. I did enquire about membership to the membership officer earlier a couple of months ago and he told me that don't maintain a waiting list. I'm hoping I can squeeze in the next time the get some spots. Not sure where else to go close to the GTA that has both pistol and long gun.

I replaced the trigger, sear, hammer, strut and leaf spring with STI components.
The trigger pull is now crisp and around 3.5 lb.

Where did you get the components from? I find this gun horrible to shot right now as the trigger is so unpredictable. Well at least compared to my Glock and Shadow.

Now its a nice two-tone. Some insides still a little rusty but I didn't have time to clean out completely. This will probably come back to haunt me but I havr a long day tomorrow.

FYI I did a full hour and a half of white vinegar soak but I probably couldve done it in less. Next job is either beavertail replacement, trigger job or both.

Has anyone done a trigger job? The OE trigger is quite rough. To me it almost seems delayed at time.

Some parts of a 1911 trigger job should not be done without proper training. But there are two things you can do that will help.

Take the mainspring housing off the back and tap out the little pin that holds in the spring. Don't let the spring fly across the room. Clip 3 coils off the bottom of the spring.

Take out the 3 tine flat spring and bend the left and middle tine back about a tenth of an inch.

Nice. straight to the point! I'll try this, thanks!

Looks like 44 left... Anyone wants another serving, I think its time to GO!

I want another 1911 before they are all gone, but I already have 2 ammo crates! Does anyone wants a ammo crate, maybe we could work something out, especially for those living in Quebec.

If you lived on my side of the country I`d be in, but alas

Do you live anywhere between Ville Marie and Rouyn/Noranda?
If so, I'd be interested. You could PM me with the price you want.
