Wow, this isn't exactly what I expected when I struck off to go hunting yesterday.....

What a great photo.
It reminds me of a couple years back target shooting on crownland. I had a doe that wouldn't eff off no matter what. I walked out 300 yards to hang a target and she followed, when we came back she walked under my day tent and stood on top of my shooting mat.
We sat together long enough for me to eat my lunch then I gave her a good scare. It's my mat for eff sakes... :)

add; For the record, when I saw the pic I actually heard myself say, "awww".
And Rick has a pretty lady!

When I was a kid we'd always have deer in our yard. No hunting on the island meant the deer don't care what you think, they did what they want. I used to toss apple slices to them so they'd lose interest in my mother's apple tree. Scaring them off either lasted about 5 minutes or sometimes the bucks would stand their ground. The neighbor got a good jab in the ass one morning from one such skirmish. Well one day there was a lone fawn hanging around, no doe in sight. So I grabbed some apple slices and went to feed it. As I tossed apple slices I slowly walked right up to within a few feet and held one out in my hand. It let me pet it while it ate apple slices out of my hand. Pretty cool moment for a 10 yr old kid!

I once had a tiny owl land on a branch beside my tree stand, not two feet away. It sat there for a couple of minutes then silently swooped down and grabbed a mouse. Another time, while in a ground blind, I watched a weasel run along a rail fence maybe 15 feet from me, stop, jump off and grab a mouse. Later the same day, a buck went on his hind legs and rubbed his antlers in branches maybe 10 feet away. I shot him 10 minutes later. Unknown to me, a rub had been established beside my ground blind within the previous 24 hours.

It's amazing what you see when you sit quietly and concealed in the woods....

It was indeed precious! Our friends 10 year old was also with us & they actually ran around the lawn chasing each other. He was bunting Owen with his head. Owen asked his Dad if he could please keep him... Here is another pic with Owen & his buddy Rudolph! :)
p.s. I whispered to Rudolph to send his Dad or Grand Dad to my stand ..... I'm still waiting for one of them to show up! ;)
Thanks for the compliments guys!
