What's the point of asking for 1942+ stock (the one that's incorrectly referred as "naval") on 1941 rifle? Those are children or monsters (depends on how to look) of refurb process :)

Got mine today. 1942 four gill Tula, no stock repairs and the bore looks mint after all the cosmo was wiped out. Can't complain about this one.

Local so i went in to buy mine at the shop. Slight bit cheesed hearing you scored a sniper notch one as there were none in the 15+ i inspected in the front case.. Some without stock repairs but didnt catch my interest. Maybe that notched one was ordered was before i went in. Or maybe the really good ones were hiding in crates in the back. Still very happy with the price and what i scored. Been waiting forever to buy a svt (have everything else except a 1903 and a 'saka) and glad i did now.

Went in looking for a 1940 close to original config as it is the one year of ww2 i was missing.

Found a tula '40. Solid AVT stock with a nice big A on it and a star, serial matching receiver. Very odd repair on it thats done very well (chunk repaired on the underside of the grip.) Early sling swivel, late brake (ugh but replacable), done a full cosmo strip n it looks good. All force matched refurb. Has the "punched out" style mag on it. No import marks. Black bolt. Most of the old black paint has flaked off. Bore was excellent after the decosmo. The gas system had seen a touch of corrosive as some pitting exists on the gas plug. Maybe i will look for a new gas plug in better condition. Sooo many stamps on the metal of these things wish i knew what all the little ones meant.. This will be my shooter that is well taken care of

Oh... And i bought two more.. Lol.

Second one i was looking for a bit later. Found a good 1943 tula that was mostly correct wearing a 4 port brake, fixed sling mount, matching avt stock, no rails, plum bolt. gas system looks new. Arsenal repair on the avt stock. Looks to have a izzy bolt (assuming the triangle is izzy and the star on the other bolt is tula.. Tempting to swap the izzy bolt on this to my izzy '41 and the tula on my izzy to the 41 tula.. Damn force matched electropencilling..)
Anyways the '43 is in great condition still in cosmo though. Normal rivet style non matching electro penciled mag.

The final one i grabbed was a izzy '41. Figured i had heard izzys were harder ro find than tulaa (no podolsk i could find) so thought i should buy one. Found a '41 with late brake (4port). Oddly the only of the three with the russian r meaning yearafter the date on the receiver. Stock matches but i can faintly see the old serial. Non avt solid stock on this one. Arsenal repair. Normal force non matched riveted mag. Still in cosmo. Gas system looks new. Fixed sling mount.

All three look excellent and I cant complain. All mostly force matched parts. Overall the wood on all three is great with one well done repair on each. Metal on all three looks well done, the 43 has the nicest dust cover but not as nice receiver metal as the '41 & 40. All have good bolts. Cant be sure of the barrel as two are still in cosmo but the one that is; is excellent. Pictures to follow cuz thats the good part lol.

Sorry to be slightly of topic, but which muzzle brake is louder on the svt? I have a 12 port brake and people always say how loud the svt40 is but mine doesn't seem overly loud? Maybe I'm just going deaf I don't know haha

By the way I'll be ordering on payday if theres any left!

I dropped into Lever today and talked to Blair.
First thing I noticed is that they have separated the notched snipers from the general lot, and the notched one are priced at $700. :sok2
They also picked out the Podolsk (often incorrectly called Kovrov) and have them priced at $350.
So that ruled that out.

Anyway, I did get another Tula, this time with wide trigger guard, no-hole safety, and one-piece sling swivel. Just to be different from my previous ones. :)
Oh yeah, bought a shipping crate (transit chest) for $10 also.

Lucky Lyman! I thought they were all mixmasters so I didn't ask for matching wood... Any photos of the stocks?

I know I have been very lucky, it makes a change and it's long overdue. I will take some more pics when I have enough natural light.

I think the naval stocks are far superior to the regular stocks. I don't understand the differences between the naval stocks and the ATV stocks, or is that the same thing ? Both of mine have the cut outs for the selectors on both sides and take the MN type slings and have more meat than the usual type.

Thanks tootall for asking them about snipers/podolsk something i neglected to do but knew they had snipers for 700. From the previous post i thoughtpeople scored snipers for 199 lol.

They must have shipped mine before they started separating them.

I'd rather buy 4 SVT'S for $800 then one with the a notch for $700

I can't understand the big deal about the notches. If it has rails, and most have them, whats stopping people from making their own notches and saving $500.
