Sig M400, Armalite M15a4, Core15 M4, Ruger SR556E, S&W M&P15T

My dealer suggested me the Core 15 piston with the Match SS i in 8 rot polygonal barrel, he is also the one who suggested the Nemesis Vanquish 308 to me, i know better than not listen to my dealer... JP.

CORE 15

These guys are the new kids on the block and out to make a name for themselves.

Depending on what operating system you chose - you get a chrome lined Barrel for the DI, or Stainless Barrel for the Piston. They're QC and warranty is unbelievable - and last but not least, Wanstalls is their Canadian distributor.

Gary, Dan and the boys are about as much 'buying with confidence' assurance you could ever want.

Abby

X2... They are great rifles. I find the fit and finish excellent at their price point. Accuracy is great too. That said, I can't speak to the others on your short list...

No need of carry handle, I already have the Aimpoint Pro.

Core15 as Hobby gun, Not sure I understand? Is it because its unproven yet?

The S&W M&P15T looks pretty gun but not sure who has it in stock? irunguns has it but the item is still in the states and that might take more time for transfer.

Core15s have a lifetime warranty. and they put out high quality hardware. Now dont get me wrong it's no knights or hk416. But it doesnt compare to them on cost either. I can vouch for their quality.

If you don't mind me asking, then why are you selling your Magpul decked out Core15?

Not at all.

I bought it for 3 gun. Most of the local 3 gun matches are getting shut down, I no longer need a race rifle. I'm focusing instead on my cz858. Plus H&K is about to announce the G36, which I am very much interested in. Once that comes out, if it gets classified nr I really have no role for the ar at all. Even now, I run the cz a lot more than I run the ar(the last time I shot the ar was in summer)

I usually have a role for my hardware, the ar fills no role that I have that the cz does not do, and it's restricted. The rifle itself has been flawless, I would much rather sell it, buy more ammo for my other systems like my cz and my pistols or buy some mods for my car. Not that I am hurting for money, I just have no use for it, so instead of sitting here doing nothing I figure if somebody else wants to shoot it it's theirs for some money in exchange.

1. Figure out what ammo you plan on shooting. Not all AR-15's have the same twist rate. This make a big difference.
2. Figure out what accessories you would want to put, what furniture, sling attachments.
3. Fixed front post? Flip up front sight? Do you want to absolute co-witness, lower 1/3? Red dot only? Magnification?
4. DI or piston?

I was in your boat. I went to several shops and help a bunch. One of the Armalite triggers I tested was the worst I have ever tried. I decided on needing a 1in7 twist for shooting the 77 grain SMK's (I only handload). If you plan on shooting a lot of 55 grain or around there light stuff, you may want a 1in9.

I wanted Mil-spec or close to it, light, flat top, good sling attachment options, tight upper to lower, fixed front post, tight tolerances, ready to go out of the box, $1300 ish, 1.5 MOA or better with handloads, and Magpul furniture. I wanted warranty, one that isn't a new company that could up and vanish in a few years. I wanted gas not piston as that is what I am used to from the army, it is simple, reliable and unless you are shooting a lot a lot without cleaning DI is fine. The really good Piston AR's are really expensive, HK, LMT etc.

So all of that narrowed it down to the M400 Enhanced or Colt for me. I went with the M400 (no guarantee on the accuracy but from most reviews I should be able to get it with handloads). It should fit my needs. It is in the mail or I would tell you how I like it. I suspect I will be changing out the trigger one day but we will see.

There is no right answer. There may be a dozen AR's you'd be happy with.

Never seen one up here though. Smiths ars seem to have a good rep.

One thing is sure i am getting one piston and one D.I., i will make my own assesment of what system is more accurate, reviews are just to conflicting to really rely on them, i will be better served by my own trial and error... JP.

Fair enough, the OP asked for input on an open forum and everyone has their own opinion on what they think is better. Buy what you think is best for yourself. I did.

Nice stuff. I did not know that. The 15t with the free float is nice, but I read on the s&w forums that it's not that great a quad rail, plus the added weight of the quad rail is a bit of a detractor for me(extra weight). My pick would be the base sporter unit, put on magpul acs stock(have it on core 15 love it.), hk416 v1 grip, either stock forend or moe carbine length.

So I pulled the trigger and ordered the s&w m&p15t.
Can't wait to receive it. Hope I made the right choice, I was overwhelmed with sooooo many choices and had to decide on one that looks the best to me.

So we'll see.

That is the issue with AR's...too much choice, and it takes time and experience with them to understand what is good one etc...I am currently trying to figure out what I will get next.
