Reload .270 Win to 6.5x55 or 7x57 power level?

I'm new to reloading and wonder if I can load the .270 to fit right in with the 6.5x55 or 7x57 for woods hunting. I'd use a 150 grain bullet and aim for say 2650 fps.

What powders would I use, and what bullets would be most appropriate for deer at that velocity? Thinking H4895 and regular cup and core 150s...?

Any correction, perspective or advice is very welcome. Need to learn.
 
A medium burning rifle powder should do it.
Something on the line of Varget, H414, 4320, 3031, etc.
Hodgdon's on line loading chart shows with the 270 Winchester, a starting load of 45 grains of H414 shows 2569 fps.
 
It should be easy enough to do, but I cannot understand any advantage you would gain by doing so. Why do you want less performance from your .270? I would think that at that velocity, almost any bullet that shot well would work.
 
I have done the same thing, shooting a .270 150 gr RN bullet at around 2600 fps. Used 4895 to do so, for a nice load that was easy on the shoulder, relatively quiet and effective on deer in the bush. Check the Hodgon site for their reduced loads.

As Al-Sway alluded to, I'm looking for 'a nice load that is easy on the shoulder and relatively quiet and effective on deer in the bush'. It means my .270 can double as a 7x57 or 6.5x55 anytime I want it to. Use the high-test rounds for larger game or open country, and use the tailor made ammo for practice and bush hunting.

At that velocity, I'm worried that bullets made for full-speed .270 loads may not expand properly. Should I be careful about bullet selection?
 
4895 is the way to go IMO. Don't expect it to be as accurate as a full out load using 4831, but you can likely find a good load.
