I'm thinking of making one up out of some material I have laying around. Worth the effort for a range toy/variety piece? What do you all think?

They are far great under recoil than the pistol grips.
If you have the time, why not make one!
Just keep in mind the OAL of the gun has to remain 26"+ to be NR.

I took an old battered youth stock and chopped it down into a "birdshead" grip. Compared to the pistol grip that came on my 500 it is a world difference. Your wrist does not get impacted so much, your arm bends at the elbow. Mine looks a bit convenience store robbery-ish. I added broccoli rubber bands for extra "over molded" grips hee hee hee. Works wicked.

I'd like to see how it turned out. I plan on taking photos of my project and posting here... If it doesn't turn out too embarrassing to show in public.

They're great for shooting from the hip and look badass, but I'd much prefer a regular grip for sighted fire.

That's why I'm not chopping one of my regular stocks. I still need it for hunting. I just want something to play with at the range and maybe toss in my trunk as a SHTF gun.

No I meant a regular PGO grip, which are much better for shooting from shoulder level.
