Retail Price Dropping on T97?

So.. no mention of the barrel gouge in any retailers online stores yet under description of the T97? Are retailers being knowingly misleading to unsuspecting buyers or do they not have a responsibility to explicitly identify that they are selling a defected product?

Is it the buyers responsibility to do their own research?

Is the excuse going to be "well norinco told north sylva they don't consider it a defect, so north sylva doesn't consider it a defect, so WE don't consider it a defect"

What are they going to say?

"For sale:

chi-com gun ____, comes with two mags, sling, no quality control, poor fit and finish, helps fund the criminal company Norinco, parts need bubba'ing, oh and a free oil bottle. Defects? What defects? Safety? A western ideal.

You cant afford anything better, so settle on this! "

If you buy this Norinco trash, don't set your expectations to high.

Different name, different FRT. There are no variants of the T97NSR, each new model will go thru the complete process. Remember every Chinese SKS has a separate FRT for each factory....it's that specific. Think how many AR's are exactly the same as the next one ...all different FRT's.

Yeah, i dunno about that one...if it takes 18 months to create an FRT they still wouldn't be done creating them for Chinese SKS rifles.
I guess the bottom line is you chose to sell the NS product, you chose the price to retail it at. How come Accuracy Plus can sell the same product you have at $899 and still turn a profit but you don't rip on them?
I mean you are basically saying "buy from me cuz CanAms product may never arrive" why not plug Accuracy Plus for selling the same gun you have for much less money?
You will have to justify your price to your clients at some point....

I love Norinco.

People who call norinco junk clearly don't know what they are talking about. Name another bull pup that is even within $1000 spitting range of the Type 97, the Tavor/FS2000 are three times the price, and the RFB is nearly there as well. So yeah, if you can't afford to drop $3K on a bull pup, and there are no alternatives in bullpup form in that price range, I guess you will have to live with the things that a rifle that costs 1/3 of the competition comes with.

People make such a big deal about Norinco quality, you bought a $900 bull pup and are #####ing that it is not on par with a rifle that costs $3K??? It is like being disappointed you bought a Civic SI and it doesn't have the build quality of a BMW lol I know many Americans who are jealous that we can even land norc guns, the Norinco AK's are legendary stateside for some reason.

uhhmmm no... i think everybody is #####ing that the barrel flaw on the t97 does not exist on any other rifle from $50. and up...

so what you are saying is because of price point it is better than more expensive ones......that is how I read the above.

you just finished saying Norinco is great quality above, now you are saying people should expect problems and flaws because it is a price point rifle?

Ugh, no.

I said that your getting a lot of value for what it is... a bull pup that is non-restricted and takes AR mags (there is not another bull pup on the market near it in price).

How is that tiny hole affecting performance? Defect maybe... but does it affect accuracy or operation of the firearm? ...if not then why care?

Nobody knows, only time will tell, what I do know is that no other manufacturer would sell a rifle with such a defect and not exchange the rifle or refund you your money.

The 6000rnd projected life of the T97 would be the other drawback as at that price point I would buy it only to use it as a lead hose for fun but even then an SKS sounds like a better deal at this point

Well they claim their AR15's only have a 5000 round barrel life... that has been proven to be false by many, however the bolts apparently start getting weak around 15,000.

I can think of many manufacturers who have knowingly sold firearms and denied accountability... I do believe the most notable would be the Remington 700 safety law suit epitomizes what you are claiming, they deny its an issue. How about TC Ventures, they didn't refund, they made you ship your gun back for a new sear to be installed. I can name a bunch of others, Canadian included, but whats the point, you obviously just don't like Norinco.

NOT EVERY RIFLE HAS THAT ISSUE!!! JHC people! quit spouting what some guy on the internet said....yes there are a couple rifles with a small mark in the BBL, not all though. They are great guns, and tons of fun. No i dont see can am getting a gun here anytime soon. They have not even began to make them. lol if you are waiting for one, im sure they will be along soon though, they have only been coming since 2007 or so....

do the AR's in question start life with a barrel gouge?

has nothing to do with brand, It is unacceptable no matter who made it, since it is Norinco you just assume it is brand hate?

a couple? when people posted serial numbrs it seemed like the defect was present in a large number of rifles, if it was only a couple I can't see why there would be no refund or exchange program.

people always want something for free. def not all rifles are like this, as mine is great, no isses with mags, BBL, FTF's, not a single issue with it. I love mine, and would recommend them to anyone.
