Who's still making 35 Whelen's

I think that's why he put "settling" in quotes...

"YOU" got the best accuracy or your imported reloading team got the best accuracy... just wondering???

Hoyt, You insult me.............I never owned a 35 Whelen when my dream team did all that shooting for me, and besides I did all the loading for my dream team. They just did the shooting I did all the development and loading........Those groups are mine and no one elses...............

Never owned a Remington. Some people say quality control has been poor recently. This something I should be concerned about if I re barrel?

The 700 - old or new is one of the best platforms to base an accurate rifle on. It is the safest, strongest 2 locking lug bolt action that has ever been made.

Douglas... You took that wrong... I meant no offense... I was curious if that Whelen load was one drummed up when the reloading folks dropped in for a visit. But, I am surprised that you didn't own a Whelen just a year and a half ago...

Hoyt......I been picking up a string of 700 Classics since then, a 257 Bob, 35 Whelen, 6.5 Swede and 375 H&H...........don't think I had any of these at the Scheutzenfest of 2012. I just passed on one in 350 RM, couldn't justify 3-350s, not even to myself.

Yeah, the Rem 700 Classic series was a good marketing camaign... It lends itself we'll to collectability... You are the fourth person that I know is gathering the lot... You showed amazing restraint passing on the .350 RM... But I'm betting it is haunting you... And I'm betting you bite on the next one! ;-)

I have six .35's; two Whelens, a .357 Maximum, two .358 Winchesters and .350 RM... I had a .35 Rem but reamed it to the second .358... Just because I wanted one in the Handi platform...

Last year took a Woodmaster Rem 750 35 Whelen on a trade, gave it as a gift to one of my brother, who always dreamt of having one, now i think they are discontinuated... JP.

I know Remington used to have them in the 7600 and nice looking 700 CDLs but does not seem to make them anymore ? Cooper and Nosler chambers rifles in this cartridge? Anyone else ? I guess one can always pick a Remington up from gun broker if you are willing to get it imported through a broker.

Seems like an interesting cartridge although I'm tapped out for funds immediately.
I'd just watch the EE for a bit over the winter. One will pop up eventually.

I built one years ago in a 375-350, now that was an impressive little gun............18" barrel on a Ruger short action and equaled the H&H factory loads with 270s. I already have 2 - 9.3s and a reamer for a third on the 8X68 case............I'm playing with 45 cals at this minute.

Was there a thread on that one? I get 2700fps with my 22" 375CT. Doesn't seem fair compared to yours. :)

I did have it stoked up a bit, but thought I'd be better to back off to 2700fps after further consideration.

Na SC...........that was years befored I even knew this site existed, in fact it was probably years before this site even existed. I've long since lost the book with the data.........built it the first year Nosler came out with the 260 Part, ran out of them and went to 270 W-W power point, I had aquired 400 from Ted. IIRC I got 2720 from 270s......no pressure indicators at all.

I talked to a guy who says it's still kicking about the Whitehorse area and the current owner says it's the best light little moose gun he's ever owned. I'm amazed the factory ruger stock held up actually, it started as a swift that didn't shoot all that good. I shortened and schnabelled the forend, it was quite a cute little thumper. The current owner probably doesn't load it to it's full potential though.;) Actually I remember pinning and bedding it, probably why it's still in the wood. I was actualy going to make a 416-350 RM, but couldn't find a 416 barrel cheap enough, I was given the 375 CT barrel which was badly shot out but had enough shank to shorten and rechamber and get a good throat. It's a project I may do again just to see if that barrel was an anomoly or the cartridge is really that efficient.
