I would be interested to see what you find inside the crate. I hope you find a gem or two.

I still can't get over my $200 sniper, I keep fondling it :)

I don't blame you! I'm happy for you. I think mine is in il go at the post office tomorrow , I would not dream that mine be a sniper, I just hope its a nice clean with no stock repairs. I haven't ben particuly lucky this year with my online purchase. Got a beat up mosin, a ruff ag42 and a garand receiver with zero park wen guy's got like new one :p

I dropped into Lever today and talked to Blair.
First thing I noticed is that they have separated the notched snipers from the general lot, and the notched one are priced at $700. :sok2
They also picked out the Podolsk (often incorrectly called Kovrov) and have them priced at $350.
So that ruled that out.

Got mine yesterday. "Luck of the draw" (non- hand select): 1941 Kovrov (nice!), 2 port brake, 2 piece swivel. There's a small stock repair. Overall, I'm pleased, but the bore's not what I hoped - not shot out, but the grooves are slightly dark and pitted. Might still shoot well.

I'm happy by virtue of having a scarce manufacturer, but I think I'll go for another, hand select this time as shooter. Perhaps: 1941 Izhevsk, six port, marine stock and one piece swivel, to show the variations. Most important, an excellent bore. Is that something I can request and expect to be accommodated (it's not on the hand select list)?

A well as usual I got the bottom of the barrel:( 1941 six port ( no problem with this) dark bore, 2 stock repairs and bolt old open doesn't work unless I press the mag against the rifle.

Wen I went to pull back the bolt it was jamming so I went to disassemble it. The dust cover was of the recoil spring so wen I grab it it slam forward and fell off , I pull the bolt back as it was still binding , wen I let it go forward it jumped out of the rail and o the ground and the spring flew off.....

This is not my first svt but this one was assemble of track some how.... anyway. .... I'm disappointed.

I might call lever monday see if there willing to sell me a hand pick with out the premium. Now for the love of pete if my can-am socom can at lest be well indexed and nice... I'm getting depress with those surpluss rifle...

Well the mag is completely block , I had to disassemble the mag the only I was able to make it work was switch the follower with a other svt mag now it works fine...

how is possible to have a sniper for $ 200

not long ago, in the same store, they have put a sniper on sale for $ 600/700

Oil the you know what out of that bolt stop/mag release.

I had this problem with a 1944 SVT, the bolt stop didn't function properly and the mag it came with caused tons of problems (locking, seating, etc.). Once oiled properly, both problems were solved.

I also asked for no stock repairs if possible. I got two really nice rifles with no stock repairs and mint bores. They both make my old SVT 40 look really tatty, it has a rough bore but it shoots like a dream.

A few pics of my $200 sniper, well actually $225 with the hand select but still an OK deal. :)

Thats a beauty. But I was told hand select does not include no repairs to stock or bore condition.

I was told that most have stock repairs, and as I wanted AVT stocks I was more likely to get stocks with repairs as it narrowed down the selection. As for the bores, they told me they were all good as they had been factory refurbished. I said in that case please chose two rifles that you would want to own yourself.

Got mine Navy stock 1941 stock is in great shape! Quite happy. Also has 15-200lbs of cosmoline on her. I also think I got an SVT38 magazine so I am concerned how I shojld open it up. I can tell its full of cosmoline the follower only depresses anout 2cm and feels squishy

I hope tradex stops selling PRC ammo with Svt40 as a package if that's the case, now I have 880 rounds I cant fire out of my svt40. Looks like I have I have a lifetime supply of ammo for my mosin that I hardly shoot

my svt40 wont fire PRC ammo, do you guys have ammo problems with yours...Im thinking of grabbing a 2nd

I got a crate of PRC from Marstar to spilt with a buddy. Shoots through mine very well. Made some surprisingly tight groups and no malfunctions on 1.3 gas setting.

I also have that style of magazine. The two tabs can be depressed to release the floorplate but replacing it is very difficult. A much easier option is pouring boiling water through until it runs cosmoline free.
