Hi all,


I just took a peek at the 10 round pistol mag on Zahal's website.

Silly question,

But is this a mag that is allowable on our vz-58's?


kinda like the LAR-10 pistol mag allowance?

Zahal's website clearly shows text on the mag that its purpose is for the pistol.

friendly and professional opinions on this topic are appreciated
 
Agreed. We need the VZ58 pistols imported before we can get ahold of pistol mags.

I hope these become a reality if for nothing more than allowing the full use of stripper clips. lol

Double the mag capacity is nice too :)
 
How dose a firearm become reclassifyed as a pistol? If you had a short barreled VZ58 with out a stock, wouldn't that become a pistol?

IIRC it needs to have a barrel length less than 300mm and OAL less than 660mm and be designed to be fired with one hand as in no buttstock even if it folds. The RA XCR pistols accomplished this, same with the RRA LAR-15 which uses a pistol buffer tube that does not accept a buttstock. A CSA shorty with a sling plate or block off plate would get the job done.

It has to start with a different receiver than the rifle version. One that will not accept a butt stock. Once a rifle always a rifle, once a handgun always a handgun is what the bureaucrats decided. It has nothing to do with overall length, only if it was designed to be fired with one hand.

, in the US the SBR's are a class 3 firearm so fitting it in as a pistol skirts the 200 dollar fee and the wait times. Until this is readily available to the canadian market the Mag is prohib even though it has the magic words on the side and we all want 10 of them. Start legally importing pistols and we may have a shot.

Except when the RCMP change their minds? At one point weren't the 6.5" pump 12ga with pistol grips non restricted now their not?
 
No they won't. The RCMP are fine with using pistol mags in rifles and have been quoted as not looking into reclassifying the VZ. The only firearm under review is the SAN but it has nothing to do with gun grabbing politics.

God we need a 10 round mag for the 858! I love to shoot my baby, cause it's one hell of a shooter, but it's getting annoying with the 5 rounds.

Thats not what's happening. its not a ban on imports, its not a reclassification. please read the threads on this forum concerning this story.
One shipment got resent because they were full auto babies, importer lost all his money, now importers are not so keen on getting some 858s in country because of this.
Voila, end of story.
 
I think its worth a shot to try to import a pistol from czechpoint via irunguns and mating it up with a 10 round pistol mag before it even enters. two birds, one stone, no?

Like I said, the RCMP have no interest in reclassifying the VZ. Its damaging to the community when these rumours get perpetuated.
 
Yes, but the only other requirement is that the pistol needs to be readily available. This is why Wolverine imported a bunch of XCR pistols. All it will take is an importer bringing in a shipment of VZ pistols after they submit a sample to the FRT lab and it gets a restricted FRT. Then magazines for said pistol can be imported, sold and used in their original, unaltered form in whatever firearm they happen to fit in. Its been done twice and fully approved by RCMP.

That's what people said about the AR and every other pistol mag that can be used in a rifle. Stop the fear mongering and enjoy using completely legal magazines.

You could just install a stock after you buy it. That is what most everyone does with the XCR pistols and is perfectly legal here.
