Unfortunately the barrel appears to have been changed so it seems to be in .303, but the extractor is very different from a P14. I'm going to give it to my gunsmith to see what he can make of it…

The scope is an M38 from WW2, but they were used on the original Star Wars Stormtrooper guns, which were actually converted Sterlings!

AAAARRRRRRGHHH! He who hesitates. I was sure it was a P13. I was on the verge of buying it on a hunch. A museum piece there But, you snooze, you loose. Well done. I shoulda woulda coulda.

Congrats Faz. I was thinking about buying it, until I saw the price. Keep us updated on the resto.

There is article in a older Gun Digest about the P13/14/17 rifles and in this article he mentions that some P 13's were converted to 303 in the war time. My P 13 was cut down after the war,
When I get home this weekend I will try to find the article and the year of Gun Digest and post it.
What serial number is the action?
John

The article I was reffering to is in Gun Digest 1994 and is by Wilfrid Ward, called The Action That Served Two Wars and about the enfield action, I don't have a extra copy or I would send it to you but should be able to find one, here is a couple of pictures of mine

Yes and there is references in that about them being rebarreled in to 303 and also of some being modified after for testing, not sure if there is anyway to now for sure what was done but as you see mine is what it is and since the ears are modifed it is a cutdown P13

I've just ordered a copy of the publication, but I'm curious about the .303 reference. Do you mean some were rebarreled in .303 as part of the testing program for production of the P14? That would be interesting...
