sks stock wirh no serial?

A frirnd has ordered a sks from cabelas, the rifle us flawless, it looks new! What puzzels me the rifle seems all matching but there is no serial on the stock, not even exed serial. Is this common?

Common? No.

Extra special with extra value? No. Just different.

Refurb. And the didn't do it.

Bubba and refinished.

Replacement stock outside of refurb.

Anyone's guess.

My Russian SKS has all Matching Serial numbers but also has no numbers on the stock anywhere, Also no ###X's

I think the numbers were just sanded off and then the stock refinished. Thats what it looked like on mine atleast as the side the numbers should be on look alot more "worn" then the rest of the gun.

I never put much thought into it, its just an SKS come the end of the day lol

I would guess the first statment. As it is from cabelas everything seems original, 51 tula non chromeline.

I bought a whole case like that/ mint ones, no numbers on stocks

Westrifle had a bunch of those a while back. I bought a 1951, looks new and the stock had no serial #

I have a 1950 with a recycled hardwood stock sporting two serial numbers. One ###xx'd out (and sanded), the other as plain as day -- and it doesn't match the rest of the rifle.
However, the stock is very nice and fits very snuggly... fits better than any other SKS I own. I would say that there's every possibility when it comes to the refurb process.
