So I was out and about in the bush the other day with the tavor, trying to get a coyote or 2. I tried calling a bit but no luck so I packed up and headed back to the truck. As soon as I get there I see a nice coyote bounding along a clearing about 50 yards away.
So I load a mag in, rack the action and draw a bead on the sucker. He stops for a second and I press the trigger.*Squish* No boom, just squish.I verify the safety is off, tap, rack AND Squish. I run through my malfunction drills as quickly and quietly as I can, get a sight picture again, and Squish. No boom, yote trots off to haunt my dreams.
I am, of course livid, because my gun had failed me yet again, and I only had maybe 200 rounds through it since it got back from North Sylva. I take the tavor home and let it sit in the safe overnight to think about what it had done before I inspect it thoroughly.
The next day after I removed the bolt and started inspecting it, I notice out of the corner of my eye, an extra hole in my gun. At first I thought my mesa tactical quick release sling adapter had fallen out.But it was the wrong hole. It was the hole just forward of the sling hole. The pin had rattled loose and fell out into my gun case! I slide the sucker back in. Secured it properly with the little pin and function tested the rifle. Worked like normal. Took it out and tested it and she fired just like she should.
Moral of the story is, Give your guns a quick once over inspection if they have been rattling around your truck for a while and check for this pin if you ever happen across this silly issue!

old pic, but its the pin just left of the sling hole. Make sure that sucker has its locking pin securely in place. I sure am glad I caught the issue though.
