Nosecap. When I took it apart to clean it up I noticed an endcap repair. A 45 degree splice. They must have only had a short piece of wood!

That's a first for me! I have seen first four inches replace before but always at the correct length. I have a feeling the bottom of the barrel is being scraped as far as these things are concerned. Has anybody noticed the recent production black slings being shipped with this batch? Hard to believe the vaults are stripped clean of slings but it looks that way.
Ya, that's what came with this one as well. This is seriously a 50 dollar rifle tops. It shoots straight enough so I will just use it for bear hunting. The bore is pitted but still shootable.
Oh BTW I installed those solid band retainers. The ones it came with literally fell apart in my hands when I took the stock off.
My friend has a Mosin with the shortened nosecap just like that one, so I have seen it. I bought my SVT at Wholesale also and the one sales rep didn't seem all too enthused with me wanting to see more than a couple. It was busy.
The Mosin, I got to poke around and had lots to choose from. It was the evening. I was told they didn't have accessories but to call back during the day. I live enough out of the way but I was around after 6 on Saturday, they were closed, so I didn't bother and didn't get accessories. They had extra SKS ones while I was there, so I took those. Guessing I should have gotten a sling with it. I mostly would like that firing pin tool. I will say I do enjoy going to Wholesale more now than I did earlier this year. I went in to buy ammo and walked out with 2 rifles in 2 weeks
