Ok ive been searching and can't find anything on this.

New black rifle will arrive on Monday. I want to take it to my range which is 5 minutes away.
Cert won't show up in mail for some time. My LTATT says i need the Cert to transport.

So can i get a STATT to the range as they usually don't say they require a cert?
It would be better if they could e-mail a copy of the cert but they don't do this do they?

If I wait for the cert in the mail I wont get to shoot it until Feb as i am going away for work soon.

They won't email a reg cert, at least not last time I asked. Don't know for sure but statts are usually only given out for trips to the gunsmith, home from the retailer, or trips to the postoffice. I would bet that the CFO will tell you to just to be patient. Which sucks.

I've heard of STATT being issued in ON for a day use to a local range BUT none of the public ranges will accept or allow you to shoot a restricted with a STATT.

I've had registration and STATT's emailed to me many times before. Alberta CFO's are usually very helpful. I've never asked for one to go to the range though, only to take something home or to the post office. Shouldn't be any different though as long as you are a member somewhere or are going to a range that allows day passes or your going as a guest.

Trinimon,
Sounds like it sucks to live in Ontario. I've never even been asked to show an ATT. They just trust that we aren't gangbangers and that we are responsible enough to make sure out paperwork is in order before heading out.

What's the wording on your ATT?

Mine has no mention of requiring the certificates.

Spoken to me from the Alberta CFO on every restricted I have bought the "transfer paper that was emailed to me" is legal to take gun to range until the certificate is received in the mail. If you have any questions phone the Alberta CFO as you will get different answers from one from anyother province. The Alberta CFO told me that the transfer has the same information as the certificate and as far as they are concerned it is good to go.

Like any legal advise do not take any from a intenetl site and phone the Alberta CFO.

It says it right on the transfer form, too.

I called the CFO about this a long time ago, they said they do not issue STATTs to a club....only LTATTs. Not sure if this still holds. I initially aasked because the club I was a member of at the time only had like 1 ATT course a year.

They haven't e-mailed me a "transfer paper". I assume i can call and ask them to do this?
I did call the AB CFO, but just to confirm the transfer went through.
I'll call them Monday morning and see what they have to say.
Thanks for the help.

What the heck do you need to take an ATT course for? I've never even heard of that. What province do you live in? They just make sh!t up as they go to make things difficult?
In Alberta, you get you RPAL, you buy a restricted firearm, you get a STATT to take it home then you get a LTATT to go to and from any range or gunsmith in the province. You usually need to be a member at a certified range to get the LTATT but you can join the shooters guild to get your LTATT then you can go to any certified range that will let you buy a day pass or anywhere you can go as a guest of a member.

I can't believe how different things are from province to province.

On both my current LTATT and an old STATT (to get new pistol from post office); both say:

"The holder must be in possession of the Registration Certificate(s) for the firearm(s) being transported"

It seems odd for the STATT to say this as they would know i would not have the Cert yet....so maybe the "Transfer Notification (Buyer)" does act as the Registration Certificate until the CERT shows up from New Brunswick??

I was sent a copy of the transfer application from the retailer which does have the Cert Number on it. I called the CFO and verified the transfer was approved last Thursday (application for transfer was submitted on Wed at 430 pm, and was completed before I called at noon the next day. So pretty quick.

I'll call the AB CFO on Monday and ask them to e-mail me a copy of the Transfer Notification, and ask them if it acts as the CERT until it shows up in the mail.

Interesting. Is that in the Conditions field on the second page/reverse?

Mine just says:
"Firearms must be transported by a route that, in all circumstances, is reasonably direct.
The holder must be in possession of a valid Firearms Licence or Firearms Acquisition Certificate.
This authorization will be revoked if the holder ceases to be a member in good standing of the gun club indicated on this ATT.
This Authorization to Transport is valid in Canada for the locations specified
The transportation of the firearm(s) must be in accordance with the Storage, Display, Transportation and Handling of Firearms by Individuals Regulations.
Firearms may only be loaded and/or carried on your person while you are actively engaged in target shooting competition."
