I finally got my press all set up and ready to go. I'm brand new to reloading, and am still learning. I've noticed that I've got spent primers all over the place! I can hear them flying away from the press, hitting the floor and going from there. I've been finding spent primers all over the place. Is this normal for the Dillon xl650? Anyone modify it?

Never had that issue, except when I tried to put the cup in backwards. I do have live primers fall off the chute though if a piece of brass doesn't feed, they tend fly down the chut and onto the floor where there is only a little lip to stop them. A piece of scotch tape around the bottom works.

jeez, i thought dillion's where perfect out of the box....

I don't know about Dillion's but Dillon's are almost perfect :p

Sometimes when the spent primer bin is empty, they bound and jump over it

There's a gizmo called "UniqueTek Dillon 650 Spent Primer Chute" where you can hook a tube to a bigger bin, I made an homemade one using plastic tubing

I get this from both my 650 when the primer cup is almost full, and from my RockChucker almost anytime. The nuisance is the vaccum cleaner picks them up but they don't go up a vertical run of the built in vac plumbing...they sit and rattle in an elbow until I get mad enough to throw a paper towel into the line, which gets rid of them.

Dead primers are nasty things. They can embed in the sole of your shoe and then leave little cookie-cutter divots in your wood floors.

Some women consider that a capitol offense and no jury of their peers would convict.

Deal with it.
