G17 or G19

what a tough decision. I hate the long aftermarket barrel but at the same time I don't care much for the grip on the G17, but I REALLY want a glock still... weird eh.

Does any aftermarket company make a shorter barrel or are LW and IWB the same length?

I had the chance to handle and shoot a G19 a couple yrs ago. I liked it a lot and considered getting one to compliment my gen3 G17. The grips felt different with the ergo edge going to the G19 (but a Pachmayr slip-on for the G17 solved that...for me)
In the end, the "look" of the protruding barrel killed the G19 deal for me (and recently for a G30SF)

I have a G19 with a 106mm barrel. 4mm longer on a G19 actually made that much difference to you? It's barely noticeable. IMO

jackrabbit000...I took a look at the Dlask G19 pic with the 106mm bbl. Is the profile pic of the G19 (on their site) is how it actually looks? Do you have a side pic of yours that you can post.

The picture on the Dlask website is the actual G19 with the 102mm barrel which is a prohib in Canada.

Here's one I used to own...since a Glock 19 barrel already protrudes from the slide a few mm the restricted one doesn't look that bad to me.

And here's my prohib-length G19:

I can see why the diff in bbl length makes the 102mm bbl so much more lethal.
Deal breaker for me but the 106mm may not look so bad if it was threaded and therefore longer by design.

If you thread the barrel on a G19, it is actually 117mm (or maybe it is 114mm/4.5 inch, can't remember exactly). Whatever it is, it isn't the short little stub of a barrel sticking out like 106mm barrel on a G19. That doesn't provide you enough of a threaded portion to reliably thread anything onto.

This is a photo of my OD G19 with a 106mm IGB barrel, and my black G19 with one of those factory threaded GLOCK 19 barrels that are/were available for awhile there. I found that I like the IGB barrels better all-around. They seem more accurate, obviously shorter, and they look better too. They are both made in Austria and both use the same Tennifer finishing process, which doesn't really wear at all. I have 106mm IGB barrels for both these 19's and a 23, and that is what I leave on there for the most part. The "factory" threaded barrel stays in the closet for the most part. Interesting to have, but not really my thing. It's too bad the IGB barrels are almost impossible to get, now that the company in Quebec that was importing them seems to have blown up. The factory threaded barrels aren't really available either, it seems. Lone Wolf and some of the others are fine. I wouldn't let that stop me from being able to own these awesome guns.

my advice would be to try them both out if you can before buying one, that's what I did and shortly after bought a gen 4 G19 from irunguns, to me the 17 just feels awkward but the 19 fits my hand perfectly
