Colt LE6920 Magpul or Socom??

Hi Everyone,


Trying to decide on which one to get. Can someone fill me in on the differences between the socom and the Magpul edition LE6920MP??. Is it worth the $400 more?


Which one would you buy?

I own the SOCOM and have a lot of rounds through it. The SOCOM is advertised as being the same specs as the new M4A1s that the US Army is being issued with the improvement program. It has a heavier profile barrel, ambi safety, KAC M4 RAS. I am sure either or will serve you exactly the same, it just depends on what furniture you want if the heavier barrel doesn't interest you.
 
Does the socom or socom II have the same barrel?? Also if I plan to furnish this AR with a aim point micro, sling and light only is it worth the extra for the socom?? What type of sling does the socom come with and is it true that the socom also comes with a cleaning kit?

Both SOCOM models have the same barrel. It depends on what you want out of your rifle to justify how much extra you spend. I wanted the barrel, ambi safety, RAS and Matech BUIS. It comes with a standard GI 2-point sling and mine came with a cleaning kit but the new 2013 models have been coming with Troy rails and no cleaning kit.
 
I guess I want an accurate, reliable rifle with the ability to add extra such as red dot, light and 1 point sling. In the end this is a toy but I don't want to skimp if it is worth it but don't want it over pay on something I don't need.

This!

I own one. It is advertised as being exactly the same as the M4-A1 rifles being shipped to the US military, with the exception that it is semi-auto only and has a 16 inch barrel.

If you want to own what the US military fights with, the Socom is the one to buy.

If you want another "M-Forgery", buy something else!

Did your come with the KAC, two mags, sling and cleaning kit?? The new ones supposedly come with 1mag, Troy rail and no sling or cleaning kit.

I was looking at the Colt LE6920 and decided to go with a DD M4V2... similar configuration as the SOCOM but I thought the DD was better value given at the time my only option for a Colt 6920 was still going to be $1600ish without the quad rail

thinking about offloading my M4V2 (PM me if interested)
