Seeking cheap SKS?

How are wholesalesports sks when you do not do handpick.
They are haveing a 10% off sale so the sks would only be $162.
Last time I bought a sks from them I got a 1954 izzy I wonder if
I would be that lucky again

All I really care about is if it has a good bore and the gas system is good. .
I'm still thinking I might go with Marstar , I need another case anyways .
And they have there SKS 's rated at very good to excellent .

Living in Manitoba, I would recommend checking out Wholesale Sports for their SKS collecting. It would help you save on shipping.
I picked up my first SKS through them, and it was in unfired, unissued condition (so the man behind the counter says). Since then, they seem to only have refurbished pieces, but I haven't made the trip in some time.

Don't even bother with Cabelas.

Outside of that, Marstar is great to deal with, as is SFRC. You also have Wanstalls, Lever Arms, (although their "non-corrosive ammo is indeed corrosive, see other threads on this), TradeEx, Westrifle, Wolverine, etc. I've purchased through almost all of them, and every experience was very positive.
If you want something from another member through the EE:

Weimajack also has some nice pieces available. http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/995201-russian-unrefurbs-amp-refurbs-sks-rifles-norinco-new-sks-rifles?highlight=SKS

Flamingchicken
is located in Winnipeg, and also always seems to have something nice for sale.

That would be very lucky, indeed!
They were more than willing to go through every SKS they had (on the sales floor and in the back) to find what I was after on my last trip. One employee there, a younger gentlemen, knows quite a bit about the SKS, and if he is working, he is more than happy to help.

*Edit* Wholesale Sports SKS: http://ca.wholesalesports.com/storefront/firearms/semi-auto-rifles/simonov-sks/prod276624.html

It's always going to come down to price+shipping or price+tax locally. Whichever works for you and whomever you decide to support.

If your in Ontario, I would order whatever Sks you like and just got to al flarehtys and pick up 500 or 1000 rds of Barnaul non corrosive for $150 or $300 respectively. The little extra NC ammo costs is worth it.

Don't know what shipping would cost or where you are located but lever arms on the west coast has beautiful true Russian sks's with original issue kits, not knock offs and were selling them for $169. I bought two. One for me and one for dad. Prices on ammo combos too, good luck

Got my refurb Russian SKS laminated stock for $199 total shipped taxes in from Alberta to Ontario. Bought from Guns and Things.
Crate of Czech 1200 rounds on stripper clips for $199+ $36 shipping with Purolator from Wolverine Supplies (great guys).

For me, when buying milsurp, nothing beats looking one over in person. you know exactly what your getting. I would gladly pay more to pick my own out of the bunch.

+10000. Our LGS sell for around $175. Why buy something sight unseen over the internet when you can hand pick one and take it home the same day. Nothing like jumping on public transit with a long brown box!!!! LOL
Actually, I drove home with mine in my car but I still have this image of someone hopping on the bus with one in a box.
