I am looking for a scope to replace the one that came with my rifle. Rifle is a heavy bbl Remington xr-100 in .204 Ruger. Currently it wears a 4-12 simmons and I want more mag. and better glass. Ifirst decided on a 6-24 Zeiss conquest, then talked myself into a 6-24 Sightron SIII, and now have myself convinced I should get a
5-20 Trijicon. Rifle is mainly used for gophers + any critter that comes in or around farm threatening livestock. (late evening yotes lately, hence the idea of the Trijicon) What do you all think? Am I going backwards? Should be a easy decision, but I keep changing my mind.

Ah, your right..... That one slipped through. She is a 6.5-20 but that would do just fine. I wanted the varmint recticle but it seems they are getting pretty rare.

They are stopping making that scope...it is being replaced by the 5-25 HD5.

consider the Sightron SII Big sky 6.5-20X50 LRMOA. I feel this is the best 1" tube side focus target scope on the market today.

SIII 6-24X50 LRMOA. until you are willing to spend several times more, this scope rocks.

Whichever scope you get, look at a chimney at 800 to 1000yds and see if you can resolve the grout lines. Sightron SIII will. Very few others will.

Thanks everyone. I went with my first instinct and ordered a zeiss with varmint recticle. (got a sweet deal too from a member here). Went this route as the rifles main purpose right now is to pound every coyote that I see this winter. I am intrigued by the SIII by Sightron and will be purchasing one of them in the future(and yes, I know where to get one MP, lol)

Hey Jerry, (Mr Mystic) how much would that Sightron scope go for? I have a friend that may be interested. Thanks.

I have Zeiss and Leupold VX3 but Sightron is made right up the road from me in Lousiburg or so I have been told. I keep meaning to stop in there. I think they all are good but everyone's eye is different. I think you will enjoy the Zeiss but they are heavy suckers.

I have that exact setup. XR-100 with Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x and Varmint reticle. It's an excellent combination.

For Varmint scopes I really like the Conquest. Love the Rapid Z reticle for a number of applications. That being said I too will have a few Sightron's eventually on my more target orientated rifles. I like the 8-32 and NF is just too expensive.
