Cz 858-2

The response I got from our local RCMP is that there have been no changes in the cz-858 status yet, and if there is one there will be a formal notice put forward.

If this is for real, this should be the last straw. Smash the prohibited list and rewrite our firearm laws so that they aren't so irrational.

Interesting. I talked to someone at Canam last week and they told me there have been cases in B.C. already where individuals had them at the range and the RCMP showed up and gave them 30 days to comply and hand the guns over or risk being charged with prohibited weapons offences.
The Canam guy I talked to told me just to keep it in the safe for now until we hear for sure.
Not trying to start any arguing, I just wanted to say I heard differently from a dealer.

I don't always wear a tinfoil hat but when I do its after talking to the police about firearm reclassification...

But I think I have it figured out...
I remember reading a post about the first semi auto, non-restricted CZ 858's that came to Canada years ago that were confiscated because they were defined as converted auto's, or something like that. Now we have the CZ858 that are said to be re-manufactured from military receivers, and in semi auto form.

The RCMP claim these can be easily converted to selectable/automatic fire. I dont know what firearm they looked at but I cant see how anyone, even with the parts could easily do this without wrecking their receiver.
Here's what I found online, automatic fire VZ58 trigger group...

See the difference? Even if you had the parts, I cant see how you'd easily remove the material the fit the parts.
I really hope they can clarify this.

Thanks for the research!

Totally agree. It is crap. Yes with a fair amount of work some milling and parts you could maybe make this a full auto gun. It would be far easier to take a sks or other semi auto rifle and some minor filling to the sear engagement and bam you have a full auto gun. I am going to air on the side of caution and say that these guns will be fine. The problem is if they can prove that some of these receivers in Canada sold as semi autos and were not welded up and just converted. If this is true I guess they could blanket them all as prohibited to try and get them out of the hands of law abiding citizens. The amount of unregistered non-restricted CZ in Canada would be huge. Good luck finding them all or even 20%

Maybe the last batches that were seized had different internals (Using the previous posters pics)... Our semi auto version was supremely neutered. Hard to say as Wolverine wasn't told why they were rejected.

Oh well, I'm not worried.

Good post paintgunner Those pictures tell the story right there. For those who keep asking the same dumb questions STUDY the pictures. Also not in the picture they put weld in the slot that the auto arm goes in, with the weld there the arm has no where to go. There is no quick way to make this full auto.

very interesting. And a lot of research has gone into this posts. But not to be disrespectful, its like beating a dead horse. Nothing is going to happen til it happens. And there isn't much we as citizens can do but pressure the government to rein in the RCMP. Having said that, lets see what happens, enjoy our holiday season, go and shoot the CZ858 at the range or if non-restricted on crown land or wherever. And if....if a decision goes south, we all deal with it then. I am sure the CSSA and NFA are watching the RCMP closely. And just think friends....the amount of money it would cost to confiscate thousands of CZs.....they won't do it......it would be a major major undertaking that would affect how gun owners relate to the CPC. We are their base, we are the ones that donate money to the CPC, probably more per capital than other groups. There would be hell to pay. Because of the numbers of CZs involved, this is NO T-97 of a few years ago. This would be a major PR problem for the government.
I am going to the range this weekend and shooting my CZ, and I am going to enjoy it. You should too and this thread should be locked forever.....

I don't get why people want this thread locked. Don't read it then! For f$*k sake! There is nothing wrong with voicing genuine concern over the BS we have to deal with in this country. Half the threads on this forum would be locked otherwise. Keep one thread going and avoid multiples starting up.

ok.....enjoy your thread. And keep the rumours going. 18 pages of the same ####. Enjoy. I will go and enjoy my CZ at the range.

Yeah.... So here is a better idea.... Sticky the current status of the cz, and then only allow posts that are confirmed...

by the way when the rcmp want to prohib a gun they will always says easily convertible to full auto without any proof that real , like many gun they already said that or the bd38 because you can easily find mp40 parts ... that will fit , for those gun grabber any real or lie to take gun away is good ...
