For those of you who haven't heard of painting the inlay on your glock slide (or any inlay for that matter), it is very easy to do and gives it a bit of personal touch. I painted mine white, but I have seen others do theirs all kinds of colours. Here is what I did:
As for the durability, well, many concealed carriers in the states have said theirs look new after a year of daily use. Here's my G17
- Soak a Q-tip in NON-ACETONE nail polish remover and dab the inlay. Let stand for 10 minutes. Non-acetone is important to protect the finish on the slide.
- Use nail polish (any colour you want) and dab it gently on the inlay, let stand for a few minutes
- Lightly apply the nail polish remover to some paper towel and wipe off bit-by-bit. Make sure you do this as flat as possible so you only wipe off whats above the inlay. I tore a bunch of pieces up and folded them into thick squares.
- Repeat 2-3x until you are satisfied.
Let everything settle and lightly oil your slide an hour later so the finish does not appear flat.
