Cheap 17 HMR ammo...

Was in at Prophet today, checking out some new rifles and I saw some winchester 17 HMR ammo on the counter for 9.99 per box. Just a heads up, not gopher season but might be worth picking a bit up at that price.

In a box of 50 Ive had half that didn't ignite and close to half that split the cases. I only shoot hornady and cci now. Never had a ftf or any other problems in thousands of rounds

My Cooper shoots the Winchester Supreme more accurately than any other ammunition.To date, I haven't had a single misfire, or split case.

Winchester Super x and win supreme had 40 % split cases and poor accuracy in my H&R sportster . my rifle prefers .17gr hornady. I tried 2 boxes of Winchester H.V. that worked realy good last summer.

I've have Hornady right now, the box still half full cause of split cases. Split cases are very common. However one round sounded bad and after inspection of the gun and empties, then looked at the remaining ammo and found a loaded split case. I think the quality has more to do with lot number than brand type. I have now un opened CCI box of v-max with the gopher wearing a hard hat. That lot was sick for accuracy and refuse to shoot it.

That's pretty much been my experience with Winchester ammo, not good for the chamber for sure.

Thats what my winchester hmr ammo looked like. Everyone that would fire pretty much was like that. Had to pry them out with a knife they wouldn't come out with the bolt

Good results in my savage as well.

No issues with FTF or FTE with Winchester but groups were not as tight that's for sure. CCI TNT by far the best when it comes to my Savage.
