In the past two months I have purchased four Pre-64 94's in .30/30 all in excellent condition (two in collector condition) for between $425 - $475. I also bought two Pre-64 94 project guns for $325 each... These two are in the same condition described by the OP... If he gets $400, he is doing very well... I wouldn't pay it, but perhaps someone would if it was posted long enough.

There's a fellow on the EE who frequently sells Win 94's at good prices, I'd say the pre64's he has go for around $400-$450 in fair condition and they rarely last more than an hour or so. That should be an indication of the market.

If you're buying "collector grade" pre 64's for less than $500 each , I'll take two of them for a Grand right now.

That all depends where you are I suppose. I keep my eyes peeled for good prices, but the average clean pre 64' around Ottawa here is fetching $500 and up. I even saw a post 64 side eject last weekend @ a local gun shop selling for almost $700. I think prices vary by region.
