Other than leaving them stock...whats your plan with them? What are your top recommendations on a budget (maybe in order of importance and costs associated)? Curious...thanks!

(PS any gunsmiths in the GVRD area that specialize in a Norinco "tune up"?)

Beaver tail first, hammer bit sucks if you have slightly above average hands. Flat mainspring housing if the arched one drives you crazy. Better sights so you can hit something once the guns fits you well enough.

trigger job if it needs it after you can hold and aim it to your taste.

I already lapped the slide to make it nice and smooth, my first add on was new grips. I would also like a longer trigger.
Once I get shooting mine I will start to look at things like a new hammer and beavertail.

Just new walnut grips, for mine. Going to run through half the case before I decide to do any more adjustments.
But as it is now, I have no complaints. Last one I got, was just this side of beautifull.
CanadaAmmo has done alot to promote Norinco's, and the 1911 platform.

The trigger bugged me. So I disassembled the trigger assembly, cleaned, lightly sanded the the friction areas and lightly lubed. Big difference. But I kept it stock.

So far just a set of hardwood 'double diamond' grips. Mine shoots well and is accurate just the way it is and i'll likely leave it that way.

Mine shoots very well, but of the 7 Norinco 1911's ive owned, this new one has the worst trigger of the bunch so a new trigger is a must on mine.

In a ~ 30 year love affair with the 1911 pistol I've easily owned > 100 different ones. Many Colts. Lots of USGI 1911A1's. Currently, still have a few. Even own a spankin' new Ruger SR1911, too. However, on Norinco's I must be an anomaly as I have owned some of them, too. And still have a few.

I usually like to change out the triggers & grips but usually leave everything else pretty much alone. Never had a lemon yet:

Last but not least, what I like to call my Norc-in-Stein:

While I have no illusions that it's a Colt, Kimber or Ruger SR1911, the Norc 1911A1 pistol is actually pretty good bang for the buck.

Personally, because of the number of these guns sold, I'd love to see a summary list of aftermarket parts that "fit" or can be made to fit with minimal effort.

My Brownells shopping cart is sitting with flat MSH, grip safety, trigger, and hammer but I haven't had the guts to commit to the order for fear that the parts will show up and won't fit very easily. I'm not adverse to a little effort but I'd love to know how these items will fit this gun. On the flip side, if other pieces have been found to fit better, I'll just get those instead.

The one thing I've found on the 8-9 Norcs I've owned is that the sights aren't usually adjusted properly. After that's taken care of, the only other changes I make are trigger and beavertail if it needs it.

My favorite trick for rear sights is Smith Sigma and MP's. They're basically Novak copies but made in plastic. Sight picture is great on pretty much every gun I've ever installed them on, and the plastic is soft enough to be easy to work with but durable enough that you only need to do the job once. Just a touch of patience, some very basic tools, and voila, gorgeous rear site for next to nothing.

My latest will be a test bed for a whole bunch of stuff I could never do myself until very recently.

Novak sight cuts
Browning cuts
French borders

All kinds of interesting possibilities. I need to spend a bit of time making sure my milling machine is up to it, but at the moment things are looking pretty promising.

Then I'll probably be looking at refinishing methods.

I gave the government model. I was going to parkerize or cerakote it but i've decided to leave it stock. It looks good the way it is, so i'll get a kimber that's cerakoted from the factory.

What's everyone doing for new sights on these? Any recommendations?

I bought some Meprolights from Zahal. Haven't mounted them yet as I need to narrow down the tenon on the front sight to make it fit. For an experiment, I took a needle files and widened the back sight notch. Much better sight picture, but the stock front white dot is pretty tough to see, especially after a box or two of the Norinc0 45acp. Going to try to repaint the white dots and see how that works. If not bad, I may just leave the stock sights on this one. Already have adjustable tritium sights mounted on my Trojan - love being able to dial them in, but like the idea of some low profile sights on a GI style 1911.

For the fairly tight budget- (AKA-what I've done)
-full length guide rod
-Pachmeyer combat grips
-Mag-well adaptor (MARSTAR)
-stiffer recoil spring (MARSTAR)

I find the trigger smooths out after about 1000 rounds, but I wouldn't mind dropping a new trigger in at some point.
