To the 1000s of new Norinco 1911 owners

Sorry for the noobish question but will any aftermarket 1911 sights fit this gun or should I be looking specifically for ones that will fit a Government model?

Thanks again.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions guys. I took my new Norc out today and I must say I am very impressed (stunned almost) with the out of the box performance. My groupings at 20 yards were so tight they were touching. I cant imagine what itll shoot like with better sights :) I have a few photos of the targets but I cant figure out how to upload it here.

Dlask arms can do a tune up he prefures not to work on them for the simple fact he has to make some of the parts to tune them up as they can be off spec but it depends on what you want.

PS some custom parts cost more then the firearm you bought so it depends on what you want.

got a link for this?

My favorite trick for rear sights is Smith Sigma and MP's. They're basically Novak copies but made in plastic. Sight picture is great on pretty much every gun I've ever installed them on, and the plastic is soft enough to be easy to work with but durable enough that you only need to do the job once. Just a touch of patience, some very basic tools, and voila, gorgeous rear site for next to nothing.

All i did to mine was replace the grips with some vintage walnut. I haven't decided yet, but the machining on the mainspring housing is horrendous (the lines are not spaced evenly, chattery and burred). I may replace the mainspring housing with a checkered, arched one with a lanyard loop. Trying to keep her looking like an issued original.

I bought a Norinco Np-29 9mm enhanced and am very pleased with the buy. It has a lot of nice features, bigger sights, beaver tail and a very decent trigger, and being a lefty, it comes with an ambi safety. I have changed the recoil spring to a Wolff and will eventually change the springs in the frame. I also changed the rear sight to a high visibility Colt fixed rear (not shown in picture), the original rear sight is just too high, the Colt sight looks better and now shoots point of aim. And finally for aesthetic purpose only, I will change the slide stop to a standard size, not extended.

I bought the CanAm deal with the firm intention of flipping the pistol, but.... I've got an Armco-tuned two-tone 1911 that I don't shoot a lot even though it's a good shooter, just because I'm not that huge a 1911 fan. The new gun, however, is nicer OOTB that the two-tone, so now I'm in a quandary. Tune up the new one 'cause it's nicer, or flip it because the one I have is as good as I want, and really all I need. Maybe it's just going to be a safe queen for a while...
