Has anyone heard of a Rem. 700 chambered in 400 H+H?
I have a buddy who has one that he says looks like factory stamping 400 H+H magnum.
Any info on this would be great.

As already said I cannot see that being a factory build, ask him to make sure it doesn't say 300 H&H.
The 400 H&H came out about 10 years ago and is a pretty stout cartridge, ranks right up with the 416s.
At first glance it resembles a belted 404 Jeffery because of the long neck.

Could it be a Remington 721 in .300 H+H? Possible Remington chambered it one year in the 700 "Classic". No such animal as a 400 H+H unless it's a "wildcat".
No, Holland & Holland did indeed introduce a .400H&H cartridge something like ten years ago. I don't know if it's still in production or not, and it certainly wasn't popular, at least in North America. Are you sure this is a factory barrel marking? Could it have been re-barreled or re-bored and then stamped with the new cartridge designation?
