I heard there is wild boar in Alberta with bounty on them? Does anyone know how or where to find out about this or better yet is anyone in Alberta hunting boar already and willing to take and teach me?

I've hunted them in 2 places in the province. Different counties have different bounties on them. Contact a few county offices to determine what sort of bounty they offer. I think the most I have heard of is $50 per scull. However I have never turned one in. Only kept it for meat. Very hard to hunt as well as they move around a lot and usually like the dense willows and muskeg (In my experience).

Also contact your local UFA and see if any farmers in your area have complained about them. Most UFA's keep lists of farmers who want problem animals eradicated (Gophers, wild russian boars,..etc..).

Good luck!

The guy that first tipped me off about the boars told me the meat wasn't good at all. However my father was saying that if I ever shot one he would be interested in trying the meat cuz when he was younger he and some buddies shot a boar and I was great eating. So the meat is good then?

I'd give it a go. Its all with how you prepare it. You could put a steak in the microwave on high to cook it, and yeah it will taste like $hit. Whereas if you take some time to prepare it correctly and properly and it will be delicious.

Cheers

killed a huge bore in the Berwyn area years back. they are such a pest and there was no bounty did some damage to the front end of the 74 ford 3\4 ton but was worth it
