I am looking to get a rifle for my wife for next year hunting season.

I have settle on the 6.5x55 since i already have all the reloading stuff for my m69.

What can you tell me about the husqvarna 1600 series. I know it is a modified version of the mauser 98 action.
Is this a quality piece? Is this action considered tought? Accuracy to be expected?

thx
Kevin

As MS said ^.

Small ring reciever, hammer forged rifling, side safety, nicely proportioned stock, good iron sights, pretty to look at, light and lively to handle.
There is steel bottom metal on earlier versions, alloy on later ones. Floorplate release is inside the bow if it's alloy, and vice versa for steel.
Will hold it's value.
Should be ideal for the lady in 6.5x55 cal.

Look like someone beat me by a second to buy it....i hate this when it happen.

Who is the funny guy who bought the #27643 husqvarna 1600 6.5x55 at tradeex?

I don't know how similar the action design, strength and quality is but while on my quest for a Schultz & Larsen in .358NM, I weakened and purchased a Husqvarna model 1651 in that calibre. It's a beauty.

I have since acquired my Schultz & Larsen in .358NM

but find myself unwilling to part with the Husqvarna. It's too pretty and you never know when you might 'need' a second:p.

my well used 1640 in 30-06 shoots really well. Its got a crack in the stock and pitting here and there but it really shines at the number one thing.

You found or are looking for this?
If you found this BSA CF2 and it passes the inspection, you won't need the awt six
nor the 6.5x55.
Not well sought after, but a good rifle regardless of the funky style.

Not feelin' good Looky??? I understood all of that...

Your grass is really brown in a couple of those pictures... Could be chinch bugs...

You know, I've been thinking... now that you have the S&L NM, you really should consider a new home for that Husky NM... I could recommend an excellent adoptive family... or perhaps foster care with visitation rights???

;)I'm truly appreciative of your kind your kind offer. It's one of the rifles I purchased from Ted. I had an inquiry out for a Schultz & Larsen in 358NM and Ted responded by offering the Husqvarna. I had previously turned down a Husqvarna and two CZs so I told him I thought I'd hold out for a S&L. However, he offered to send me photos and after I saw them, :) I weakened and made the deal. Now having the S&L, as 'nice' as the Husqvarna is, I'm not quite ready to part with it yet:redface:.
