I bought my first AR15 as advertised and use it for 5 months and fired at least 200 rounds of 55 grains ammo. Then found out that the rifling twist rate and barrel length were not the one as said as it should be. I managed to negotiate the return/replace of the rifle but banned in making business with the store. Now, still thinking whether to return the gun or just keep it to preserve the good relationship. Your opinion will be appreciated. I am new to rifle and just took the words of store's rep and online ad.

If they sold you a product thats not the same as you wanted and you do not believe the current setup will work for you then return it.

well if you had it for 5 months and fired 200 rounds and did not notice that the barrel length was incorrect then you should be on the hook. If I was the retailer I would not accept it back.

Are you sure its an AR? Seriously you should check before walking out that its the correct item.

It was actually my first rifle and i dont know how to check the rifle twist rate until during the time that i am customizing the rifle by installing the magpul handguard with youtube. Actually, i communicated it with the store for the sake of informing them and to be honest i am pissed. I bought a lot from the said store but a store rep basically told me to back off and just buy a new one.

Yeah, i am with you... Because it was my first one, i was so excited and just basically took as advertised and said. But now, i am knowledgeable in regards to the rifle in &out. Thanks to youtube and blogs/forums

Hmm, you "Negotiated" a return of a rifle that you claim was not he correct barrel length (Really you didn't notice this?) and the wrong barrel twist? sounds more like you bullied your way to get a different rifle because you were not paying attention to what you were buying. What barrel length and rifling twist did you want and what did you? If you went in with an attitude of "You sold me the wrong rifle and I want a refund/return/replacement" after 5 months and 200 rounds fired, I personally would have giggled at you and sent you on your way, if you persisted, I would have "Banned" you from doing business with me as well. 5 months indeed, really?

The two most common twists are 1/9 and 1/7. 1/9 and being the most useful and the 1/9 generally over stabilizing most bullets weights and is only required to stabilize the longer and heavier tracer bullet. Shooting a lot of tracer are you?

It would appear that this "Utube thing" is all knowing. Did you think to simply ask what the twist was? Some are stamped on the barrel with the calibre stamp.

LOL

so you bought a rifle without doing any of your own research. You now are trying to return/exchange a used rifle.

First off, i know many people don't research the things they buy. Unfortunately you took a risk. Not taking the stores side either, their sales team should know the product as well.

Twist rate really shouldn't make a difference. From what im reading, you bought a magpul handguard and assumed it was say a 16 inch barrel but you have a 14.5 inch barrel or something like that.

I would take it this as a lesson learned IMO

Does your receipt say anywhere about the barrel length?

If you told the store you want this specific features on the rifle and they sold you the wrong one then the retailer should take some blame.

If you just went into the store and said you want an ar15.... And they give you a random ar15, then it's your fault.
I always inspect the firearm before buying it.
Another thing, you should have done your research before you buy the firearm.

I'm not faulting you for the twist rate...
I'm faulting you for not knowing you got the wrong barrel length.
Pretty dumb move IMO.

Banned from future business.
Sure does imply that making you happy is so disruptive that they won't accept your money anymore.

Just saying...
It's particularly negative.

What barrel length did you order? What barrel length did you receive?

I'm curious ...
what barrel length did you want and actually get?
What barrel length did you order? What barrel length did you receive?
As advertised and ordered 1/9 and 16 in barrel. I got 1/7 and 14.5 in. This is my first ar and dont know much about it. I was a regular customer of the store.

"...use it for 5 months..." Long past any consumer protection laws. You have a used rifle.
Sounds like you went over board with your complaint. Shops don't refuse to do business for just getting a complaint. Plus you have modified it. In any case, it's up to you to know what you bought. Nobody would not notice a barrel length error.
The rifling twist isn't terribly important, as you can't hunt with an AR anyway.
