Hey guys, picking up a 10.5 norc today and I am a complete AR noob. I have been looking for a quad rail to replace the stock one and I have decieded on a YHM.

My question is I dont know what length to get, I assume the 7.2" but not sure. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks fellas

Can't speak for yhm, but I got a used KAC carbine rail for my norc 14.5 that required a fair bit of work to fit, seems to be fairly common with norcs not so perfect manufacturing. Might be worth picking up a dremel from princess auto for 20 bucks.

Thanks for the info guys, from what I understand its the rear ring that is not milspec which is why it take so much to get the bloody thing on but as long as the carbine length is the right size I don't mind doing a little work to it. Any DIYs out there for this?

Best tip I can give from my experience, get a buddy to help. Unless you've got a handguard removal tool the delta ring is a real pain to hold down and try and weasel the new rail in there. Other than that its a pretty simple process of grind a little, try and fit, and repeat. Better to do it half a dozen times and get a perfect fit than ruin a 200 dollar rail. Here's to hoping yours drops right in, Some just seem to fit.

Thanks bro, fingers crossed it just fits. Appreciate the info!

Well looks like the grinding has begun, got my rail yesterday and I slowly started to grind away as it seems to not want to slip on to the front of the AR. Will update later with pics if I manage to get the thing on lol.... Any advice on where to grind it down?

If it's a 2 piece make sure you insert the rail under the delta ring first then while compressing the spring try to get it to fit over the ring behind the gas assembly. Mine was tight when installing it on my Armalite but it didn't need any modifications. It should be a tight fit.

Personally I wouldn't bother, I got sick of having a quadrail on mine and went back to the standard forend. I have nothing useful to put on a quadrail and it just adds weight and isn't as nice to hold onto.

After a bit of grinding and some muscle I managed to get it on. Defiantly was a good learning tool on a cheapo rail. On to the pics, if anyone has any questions ask away.
