Is the 204 ruger fading away

I have a varmint 204 and was looking to get a lighter/sporter style rifle in 204. I'm finding it hard to find anything other than a tikka stainless(nothing wrong with that) but even those are on special order only,
So is the fast and furious 204 dying a slow death???

It has been tough getting a lot rifle calibers out of the USA in the last 12 months or so, plus most shops are sold out of their spring inventory that would include most varmint calibers like 204 ruger. FS
 
Your not looking very hard, a quick look at Prairie Gun Traders turned up 6 or 7 different models and that was the only one i checked. I like my Tikka t3lite in 204.
 
I have a 204 Ruger in a Model 7 that I just recently got. Havent had a chance to shoot it yet but I'm guessing my wife will prefer shooting it over my 22-250.
 
I think it's just past the surge of popularity that comes with any newfangled cartridge. The 223 and 22 250 are mainstays in this catagory. As good a round as the 204 may be, it's not about to surpass them in popularity. Seems to me I've come across a couple of Savages chambered for the little guy lately.

I don't think the .204R was meant to surpass either round in popularity.

The .204R merits lie in its' lighter recoil, quieter report, flat trajectory & speed without the concern of barrel life. You'd burn out a '250 barrel faster than either the .204R or .223Rem at the bench for example.

There were some regular members on the PHC board that were regularly dropping Coyotes with BF/DRT results to & beyond 400yrds. Says alot about a little 35gr or 39gr .20Cal pill doesn't it?

I'd be willing to offer up a donation to help get it back up & running. Great members & a ton of info was to be had there.
