I can't seem to find very much info around the web on the topic so I figured I would post. Are their any suppliers in Canada? Or is their alternative availability through an importer?

Surgeon actions are a tough find right now, even Stateside. Heard they may no longer sell their actions seperately anymore and use them only for their own rifle's (Scalpel, Remedy). Hope its just a rumour.

R.P.S. International (Alberta) is a distributor for Surgeon Action.

Great piece of kit. Bit of a pain in the arse to put together if you get it in pieces though.

FWIW - Surgeon may have a ready to ship rifle in stock, depending what exactly you're looking for obviously. Beats waiting 6-8 months for part gathering + build time.

Is it a possibility to import a custom built surgeon rifle straight from the source?

Thanks for the info all I will take a look around and do some more reading, I figured the importing process was very complicated and quite a hassle.

We no longer deal with Surgeon seeing as we now manufacture our own actions, that frankly are vastly superior in many respects to what Surgeon offers.

Oooooooooooo.......Dem's fightin words!
One day I'll be able to afford to test your claims, until then you should just send me some proof and I'll gladly verify your claims on behalf of readers here. :D

It is simple, higher quality materials, tighter and more consistent tolerances on all dimensions, better finish (ours come factory nitrided rather than in the white and some finishing being required), better extraction method and not mass produced typically equates to better final product.

Come on by and we can put the proof in your hands.

You offer it but i'm sure that you only sell it if the customer use your service to build the rifle.

It is the only point that would turn me away from your action. sorry.

We have a very hard time keeping up with the demand for custom rifles built on our actions at this time which is the only reason for this.
Possibly in the not too distant future we will be able to build more than what we require for internal builds which will allow us to retail more actions.
Why a person would not want the actions manufacturer to build the complete rifle and get not only an accuracy guarantee but a fully guarantee on the entire rifle eludes me however.

I assume you run your receivers/bolts in batches and not in one-offs (at least I would hope so). Here is an idea....If you have a requirement for 25 of your short actions for internal builds in a given time frame run 100 of them as raw materials are comparatively cheap and machine set up time is not (compared to machine run time). This will allow you to build an inventory of components to satisfy both markets and improve delivery times.

In the meantime it appears you continue to offer Defiance actions. I assume these compare more favorably to yours as opposed to Surgeon?

I would suggest Jason @ IRunGuns.

No imports fees Vs $250 @ Prophet River is an easy decision.

No import fees? I can see that if its stuff they are selling but how can they do an import for nothing? Sounds too good to be true. I've used PR before with excellent results but I'll go to irunguns if it were actually 'free'. Seems unlikely ?

IRunGuns doesn't charge an import fee if you buy the firearm from their web site. If you want them to import a firearm bought from another source in the U.S., they will charge $200 for the first gun, $150 for the second gun, $100 per gun for each additional gun.

Edit: I am assuming the fees are all in USD.
