Hey everyone...I have just started collecting and shooting again....so far I have picked up S & W MP 22 and a S & W MP 9mm, also have a Beretta CX4 Storm and now I am looking at getting a 357 magnum to play with....if you had your choice would you pick a Charter Arms Bulldog or a S & W 357 Magnum?? The S & W comes with a Hogue grip.....not sure if that is good??? Both are used and in really nice shape....same price as well....I love shooting both my S & W but thinking it might be time to change it up a little....thanks!!

Smith all the way. I love my 586. I have the Hogue grip, its not bad. Being a Smith, there are a lot of aftermarket options if you don't like it.

Me thinks you would have to be a silly fellow to buy the Charter Arms over the Smith & Wesson. Just my two cents worth.

Thanks so much for the feedback!! I do love my other S&W, so I am going today to put a down on it....thanks again, I had never heard of Charter either, but then again I am a newbie so I might have missed out without your help!!!

Im on the bandwagon. Smith it is. I have a 686 and love it. One note, pop the wheel out a few times and make sure it is smooth. mine catches a bit and it is annoying (yes the wheel screw is as tight as I can get it). But even with that catch, it is a bulletproof gun. complete teardown is readily available online and a basic strip for cleaning is done in seconds. Fires anything very accurately.

It doesn't say which model....I am going on Sunday to check it out and fire it...and thanks Bry...I will check the wheel closely!!

The only Charter Arms revolvers worth having are the 44 Special "Bull Dog" snubbies, from about 30 years ago (if you're 12.6) - beyond that, like everyone says - get the Smith. In fact, that's pretty much always good advice.
