I just got 2 Wilsom safeties for a 1911 .45 the other day from Brownells. I tried to order 2 extended slide releases yesterday and I see they cancelled them from my order and will not ship. The order was under $100.00. They have done this before. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there anywhere in Canada to order custom parts for the 1911's. I am not having any luck in Canada on custom parts. Thanks for any info.

Benson.

they just did that to my order that happen to certain part like grip and stuf... find it dumb but yeah..

And btw for your information the limit now 300 or something :)!

Limit is $500.

Some things are permitted some aren't. Example, magazines, I order a couple of 1911 mags and a couple of Desert Eagle mags. The 1911 mags were ok to ship but the Desert Eagle mags were not, go figure.

I just got some gsg buffers cancelled lol! Didnt really need them but figured i would round out the order. At least everything else was good to go.

Brownells cannot export everything in their catalog.

If the manufacturer of a firearm part has not paid for or maintained their Dept of Commerce (I think it is DoC) manufacturer license, then their parts cannot be exported out of the US by anyone. For example a trigger from one company that has their licenses up to date can be exported by a licensed exporter but a pretty much identical trigger by a different manufacturer who hasn't bothered to get their manufacturing license, cannot be exported. Price doesn't matter.

You might have run into parts manufactured by a non-licensed manufacturer.

As well, Brownells cannot export certain products if they have distribution agreements with a manufacturer. For example, Brownells will not (at least they used to) ship Butler Creek scope caps to Canada because of their distribution agreement with the makers of Butler Creek products.

Who made the extended slide stops?

It would have been cheaper to give BlueLine a call on the buffers. They would have probably given them to you for free.

The limit now is actually $500 but each company can still set whatever limit they want. Ordered some a large amount of stuff thru an importer here and they only sent two of the four recoil springs I ordered. Didn't even give a choice. Just shipped two.

Yes yohann that is correct. That is what they told me this morning on the phone. The lady at Brownells told me I will have to do paper work if I spend $500.00 in parts. Thanks to everyone who responded to my questions.

I'm assuming Sandy explained this to you, but in case she didn't, the form you have to fill out is an "End User Agreement", it takes about 2 minutes to fill out and you can email it back to her. Nice and simple.

Checkout the legalese section. There is a brownells tutorial that will help you with the list of companies that Brownells can export. The OP for that thread keeps it up to date. It really makes shopping online a lot easier since you will know before you order if that company's part can be shipped.

That should help you out.

I have just recently been ordering from them and learned real quick to ask for international shipping if you have any questions. DO NOT ask anyone else and be persistent about it as some will keep asking what they can do for you. In fact ask for Sandy in international shipping as she is the one who told me this.

I always ordered everything on line but now I am going to do it on the phone with the women Sandy. I guess it pays to ask questions, thanks again guys for all this infomation.

I would still fill out the online order form with what you want then phone her as she can look at it and tell you right away if everything is good to go or not.

Whatever you do, don't talk to Chelsea. She a real dumba$$.

"...Limit is $500..." That doesn't mean any of the other daft U.S. rules have changed. The manufacturer is still required to have the Commerce Dept. exporter's licence. That'd be the most likely reason.

This is the part that pisses me off the most. One manufacturer is obviously not on the list as it says:
Restriction
Foreign Shipping
This item cannot be shipped out of the United States.

Foreign Sales

This item cannot be sold out of the United States.

And the worst thing, that manufacturer is making basically the only exact design of AR barrel I want: any other seems to be "missing" one of the details I want in the product.
