so, funny story, i get drunk and get spendy, and in this case i ordered up a sightron scope, Sightron SIII 8-32x56mm Mil-Dot Scope 25136, tube dia is 30mm, ive got a remington 700 sps im gonna stick this on, and i dont think the rings i have now are sufficient for it size wise, what do you guys suggest for rings, perhaps some links to help me along.

i guess with the 56mm lens i might need a slightly taller set of rings, thats what im assuming anyways, maybe someone can help me with this

sure ill shoot a message to jerry, the problem is that the new big purchase will either be a heavy barrel or an accuracy international 2.0 folding stock but thats just a dream for now

Meh in the long run rings are cheap and disposable (aka quick sale in the EE) in the scheme of things .. Or what you need now buy what you need later in this case . Unless your buying alpha mount or spuhr but $100 is a small investment ..

thanks guys, the 700 rings screw in to the top of the gun if i remember right, that being said i found these dnz rings for the 700

so now its just a matter of figuring out if i need a medium or high mount set of rings. any tips on doing that?
i messaged jerry last night im sure hes got enough experience to point me in the right direction on height.

Don't waste your time with a half ass set-up.

Get a scope rail and proper rings. On my 50mm I had a TPS 20MOA rail and TPS low rings on the stock SPS-ACCSD action adn barrel and had enough room for a 56mm bell. You may have issues with a heavier profile. In which case medium would likely work. You'll need to match your cheek weld to the scope height.

TPS, NEAR, Nightforce, Ken Ferrel, etc.

I have spare TPS 30mm rings right now, but probably going to keep them for mounting a scope to my Vostok. Have to run 35mm with the Razor.

I think there are some in the EE right now. $75 which is a steal considering they are ~130+ tax new. They are ITAR controlled.

Good to know thanks for the help, do you by chance have a link for me to the post in the ee? I'm off for the day so I'll end up buying something today I'm sure of it

, do you by chance have a link for me to the post in the ee?

Sorry,

Looks like they just sold yesterday.

Joe at ### International in Edmonton probably has some (good guy to deal with), ATRS in Calgary, and many places should have the Nightforce stuff. Sorry I dont' know of places out east, but I'm sure they are easily found. Peter at Hirsh can set you up with Ferrel stuff which is wicked: http://www.hirschprecision.com/accessories/farrell.php

I'd run a 20MOA rail. If you have 100 MOA (which I think that sightron has) you are probably good for 1300+ yards if .308. My ~75 MOA PST was good to 1100, but the razor now has 125moa.

Also I'll likely go with medium rings, I eventually want to get a heavy barrel for it and it rather have that clearance already. Just waiting to get home now so I can dedicate some time to the ee

Good to know, I messaged Jerry to see what he has and I'll shoot off a message to those guys as well and get things going. Thanks for checking the link, I went five pages in on and didn't see them
