Lee Neck collet die

As long as you are putting enough force on the lever to form the neck to the proper size you are using enough force, brass hardness will make a difference...think how much strain you use to lift something that weighs 25 lbs...using a little to much pressure on the lever isn't going to hurt anything.

I set my Lee collet die up differently and let the press come the end of its stroke and let the travel set the desired pressure on the mandrel

"BUT" no matter how you set up the Lee collet die if you can see marks on the neck of the case where brass is starting to flow or pinched in the slots in the collet your using too much force.

I use the Lee Collet die for my 308 WIN and 300 WSM and works very well. Extends the case life and no lube required. I'll get one for my 338UM, needs a special order to Lee...

To the OP - Just be sure not to let your press cam-over. You are likely to strip the threads for the cap on the top of the die if you do this.

Yes. This is good advice. Don't ask how I know. Mine now has a 2" bolt threaded into where the aluminum cap used to be.
