I'm in a bit of a pickle here. I keep driving everyone crazy over the precision rifle forum, asking 200 newby questions. I have this itch to have a "sniper rifle". When really all I want is a MOA or sub MOA rifle that looks cool and has a bad ass scope. That's what I want realistically. I love my black rifles, and I love my XCR. In the precision world you have the long range accuracy which gets me excited. But the guns look so damn ugly. Like no offence to those who like them but that typical TRG or MAcmillan stock look that a lot of them have to me looks brutal. The only ones I like are the guys who go ahead and use black rifle styling on the rifles, like the Barret 98, and some stock designs like Tac 21, Cadex etc.

Now here is my problem. I honestly would drop the big bucks on a Barret 98 in a heart beat. I mean it, to me its a dream rifle and $5000 well spent. But it only comes in 338 lapua. Living in Ontario that's retarded. I will never find a place to shoot 1000 yards and I don't want a afternoon of shooting to cost me $200 in ammo. All the cool out of box like barret and AI come in 50 BMG and 338 Lapua, both IMO are psychotic for casual shooting. I like to shoot a lot and like to go often to blow off some steam. I'll shoot the guns worth in ammo in no time at that rate. So I have ruled those out.

So what does everyone else do over there? They buy a Remington 700 or a Savage 12 and buy fancy stocks etc. Now every normally priced stock I don't like, everyone that reminds me of the Barret or my XCR are like $2000+ for a stock only????Not quite sure how just a stock can cost the same as my entire XCR. I would sooner take a black rifle which already has the look and feel I love so much, and upgrade it to get the long range accuracy I want.

So I guess my question is, is there a black rifle out there that can do it? give me MOA or sub at long range (300-400 yards). OR is there upgrades that we can make to a XCR, Swiss? etc? barrels?

I have two illnesses that are plaguing me and keeping me thumbing through gun magazines. I am trying to make one rifle cure both illnesses.

P.S Also let me mention I have rifles that shoot MOA, but there hunting rifles, wood stocks etc. They just don't cut it for me though.

^^ hahaha

SL8 will do nice groups with 62-69 gr handloads. Ive gotten 5 shots down to .5" at 100 yards.

Then I switched the barrel for a 12.5" and still get very good accuracy.

If you don't care about being restricted, you can build a "sniper" style AR15

Primary Weapons Systems, KAC, Swiss Arms and LMT all have rifles that will do what yo ask. The support gear is as important to the whole system as the rifle itself. You'll need a good scope, flash suppressor/muzzle brake and some solid instruction from a knowledgeable instructor.

Hell yes.
The bigger questions you need to ask is auto loader or bolt, and .223 or .308/.260/6.5 creedmoor.

A proper high end .223 ar is a sub moa rifle.
The sr25 is slightly sub moa to 1 moa, but is comparatively light and soft recoiling.
A ss barrelled lmt mws is a half moa rifle, but heavy and recoils heavier.
If you really want bragging rights though, have ga precision build you a gap-10 in 6.5 creed moor. Excellent ballistics, semi auto, and will be as accurate or better than the Barrett.

Precision AR 15 (for sale by the way)

Hk SL8-4 with Hera Arms Gen 2 lower and ACR folding stock

Extreme precision 338 Lapua (NEVER for sale). Handloads are about $1.75 a shot using premium bullets. 1/2 MOA all day long :D

What I do so that shooting the 338 doesn't completely kill my bank account is take an AR or two with me as well as the other two rifles pictured. Then I shoot a few from the 338 and then go back to the cheap to shoot rifles for a while then back to the 338 for a few more.

Any AR-15 or AR-10 variant is capable of MOA or better with a decent barrel and scope.
My HK SL8-4 is doing 1 MOA for me and I've barely started load development. I have tested a couple factory loads that are pretty close to MOA and will probably do better now that I swapped out the glass for something with more magnification.
The DTA SRS will do less than 1/2 MOA with both factory loads and handloads if you can do your part.

Good idea with the multiple gun idea.

I'm looking to stay non restricted. There are no clubs around me, all my shooting is done on my own property. And for real long range I go up north on crown land. A restricted for me is a waste as I need to drive 2.5 hours just to use it.

If you're reasonably handy and have access to some basic tools, you could make your own stock for your NR bolt action rifle. Depending on what you want, of course. :)

Swiss arms sniper will do what you ask out of the box but you probably will not like the price

.???? Sarcasm?

Is there such a rifle. I, willing to spend $4000 on a out of box rifle. As long as its non restricted and doesn't need to shoot bullets designed for taking down aircrafts.

There are no truly sub moa nonrestricted semi autos.
Lots of restricteds, but no non restricteds...

Have you looked at something like a tikka tactical in an xlr chassis ?
Around $3000, looks the part and is a sub half moa gun with hand loads.

I'm a home builder. Elaborate please.
This isn't the type of stock you're after, but what I mean is build your own from scratch.

Check out stockpositioning.com for some hardware. Add on other metal hardware like rails if you want that. For the wood, fill the grain and paint it with black epoxy. It'll be durable and won't look like wood.

I'm thinking of making something like the Nemesis Vanquish chassis. Not sure what I'll end up with, but it'll be unique. :)

flash suppressor/muzzle brake is required?
