Well 2014 is fast upon us :D so its time to think about yet another new rifle to add to the precision arsenal..........

Some of you may remember last year......the old school 222 Remington.......and does she turn heads......so this year there is a bit of a different road I am going to travel. To prepare for this new adventure I did some in house searching, and I found a great stash of .270 bullets, and by great stash I mean somewhere between 5 and 6 thousand speer and sierra bullets, some new redding dies that I have yet to use......and 200 brand new hornady rifle brass, so in order to put all of these consumables to good use I ordered a benchmark .270 stainless match barrel blank, followed by yet another new Savage F class rifle in 6.5x284.

Okay so now that your all thinking 270 Winchester...........your dead wrong!!! I ordered a new savage bolt face for the PPC case, okay now your really scratching your heads right.........okay I'll spill the beans.......Savage precision F-class 6.8 SPC single shot bolt action rifle..........hows it going to perform??? I have no idea, but I do know how well my Remington 700p would shoot before the barrel went south, so for 100-300yard shooting it should be able to hold its own, and if not well that's okay with me to. I have enough bullets and brass on hand that it will not cost me any more money out of pocket to shoot this one for a while, and to top it all off I will be getting a 6ppc barrel made up for the same action, but that's not near as exciting to me as we all know what the 6ppc is capable of, my interest is in what the 6.8 spc is capable of.

So I could post pictures, but all that I have on hand so far is the dies, brass and bullets..........the new donor rifle is in the mail and the barrel is on order............but I will update as this one unfolds

well I thought about the X39 since lapua makes brass.....but comparing it to my 30BR and 30X44 it's just not as interesting. But the 6mmx223 has peaked interest once or twice before, and the 6.8SPC is pretty damn close other then being one caliber up.............

I thought the same thing about wanting something different I am having my rem 700 XCR 375 RUM stainless completely done. blue printing action installing new 7mm stw barrel with a 8.5 twist .75 at 30" muzzle break, jewel trigger, holland recoil lug, picatiney rail and a Nightforce 5-25 x 56 ATACR scope. really didn't need to change as rifle only had 30-40 rounds down the pipe. But what would life be with out change?

I wish I could snoop in a few cupboards and find a haul like that... :p
