PGW Timberwolf .338 LM load data for 300 gr OTM tactical Berger Hybrids any good recipes!!



Like the title says much appreciated! Please include as much detail as possible Thanks!
 
Same thing , preparing to load for 338 LM and I'm torn between Scenars and SMK. I plan to shoot 300 gr.

With the 300 gr Scenars I load 88.5 gr of Retumbo works great. I have not had time to develop a load for the Bergers from what I have seen it will be around the 88.5 gr of Retumbo.
 
Out of smk and scenars I would pick smk, little higher bc, easier to tune, can be used for hunting and bit cheaper/easily available. But Berger is apparently a different animal. From the info I got from some experts(including guys at ATRS) they are finicky, even hybrids are picky but if you can tune them before burning your barrel they can be very accurate, can be used for hunting, better through transonic zone(if you shoot that far), less drop and wind drift coz of higher BC and little expensive and very low availability. Still not sure which way to go.
 
SMK are great if you can find them! The Scenars produced the group below

The Bergers are apparantly sensitive to seating depth. So I have heard .015" off the lands is a good starting point to go + or -

The Scenars have a G1 BC of 783 and the SMKs G1 of 773 you will see some slightly different G1 numbers but they are essentially the same.
 
Here is one of the groups I shot on steel Saturday! At 640 yards 15 km wind gusts from right to left. 5 shot group with 300 gr Scenars out of PGW Timberwolf .630" MOA. I had visibility issues with snow so did my best to hold the same spot each time.

This was my fouling and sighting in warm up as you can see fliers alfrom me and the barrel needing some copper laid on the rifling;)

Started shooting at the 3.5"X3.5" gong but could hardly see it as the snow really started to come down heavy!

Do you happen to have any velocity numbers for these loads i'm using 92gr retumbo currently and have thought of trying us869.

I am planning on using the Bergers, I bought 4 boxes of 500PC (impulse buy) but have been too busy to play with.

I typically shoot the 250gr Scenars, my gun loves them.

If you don’t mind sharing your other Berger data I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a batch waiting for a range day, I'll share after I test them. Haven't shot the Lapua for a while.
