Very nice shooting GregB, keep it up. I'm hoping I can come close to that once I get a load worked up for my Savage 12BTCSS, but pretty fun as it is with the factory ammo I've fed though it so far, just nothing to brag about - yet.

I have the same gun, and love it.

haven't quite shot any groups like that yet, but sub MOA all day is still fun.

Waiting for the spring to put some serious effort into shooting some groups.

I was in the same boat and you know what the deal breaker was? - I got rid of the front bags and used a bipod.
I was putting a slight load forward on the legs and using a rear bag only. Seems a lot more rigid than before.
Not saying the front bag doesn't work very well for others, just not in my case as much.

Thanks, I'm hoping this just wasn't me getting 'lucky'. The key will be repeatability moving forward.

Great shooting. Savage fan here myself. I have one of the better ones myself I do not think it will shoot any better with a aftermarket barrel so I am just going to shoot this one out before changing it.

Nice shooting OP. You got one of the good ones but it takes quite a shooter to pull that kind of group off. Even my LRPV doesn't group that tight, but then again I think I might be the limiting factor.

Let's see that rifle in the 1/2 inch all day thread.

Nice shooting! I had a funny thing happen last year with a savage FV in .223. Friend and I were at the range he has the FV, I have a custom savage with a krieger, we switch for a couple of groups and my first 5 went .1 something. Think either of us could repeat it, not on your life. His might not shoot as well as yours, being honest about it it's probably 3/4 minute rifle, most at half, some at one inch.

Just shows you don't need to spend 5000$ on a rig to get repeatability like that. Great shooting!

You can hardly say what he did is repeatable with only (1) group showing. Never the less, it's gratifying to get a group like that from time to time. Can't blame the OP for being happy with that.

I really like that Precision Carbine. I'll own one of those one day but I've already got (4) other .223 bolt guns to keep me busy so it's not going to happen soon. Never know though. Posting more groups like that will likely be plenty encouragement to buy one.

I want to post this picture in the "1/2MOA all day long" thread...It took me all day Sunday to get this group!!
All the rest of my groups had "Mulligans"...

Yup, its true. It’s a pretty cool feeling when you surprise yourself like I did. I had no idea my stock Savage was capable of sub ¼ MOA until yesterday.
I almost pooped myself. Luckily I had two buddies with me to verify I wasn't loosing my mind.

Details as follows:

100 yard distance | .191” 5 shot group (.415-.224=.191) | -2 degrees | From bench with Bipod and rear bag

The other group in the photo is a .447" 5 Shot group

absolutely fantastic group for a factory rifle, nice shooting......now let's see you repeat that 4 more times.

It never takes to long for Savage hating trolls to appear.....Laugh2

You're reading more into this that what the man has stated. He's stating a fact while complimenting the OP for his accomplishment. No where does he even mention the brand of the rifle.

Excellent shooting and congrats! It is a wonderful feeling to work hard on load development and shooting technique to have it all come together finally. Nothing wrong with that rifle or set up, I wouldn't change a thing, regardless of what all the "experts" say.
