A revolutionary concept in rifles!

I sometimes think mandatory live action qualification on moving targets like done with hunters in Sweden would be a good idea in Canada... Sometimes. The once a year dust off the rifle and go hunt just isn't enough practice for some folks.

I'd venture to say it isn't enough for most folks. Dropping the markmanship portion of the hunters' qualification test here was one of the dimmest decisions ever.

All of my rifles that came with open sights now have screws plugging the tapped holes used to mount them(expect for my grandfathers model 760 gamemaster that has an old weaver pivot mount)...I see no use in me buying a rifle with open sights only to remove them and plug the holes.
The last time I used open sights on a game animal was in the 70's.....since then I haven't had a single occasion when I've thought they would have been useful. I suppose there is the possibility of a scope failing and ending a hunt as a argument for open sights but there is also an argument for a hand crank to start your vehicle.

Why would you even take the iron sights off? Do you also remove the spare tire from your car, or truck? And that crank you threw out is probably for your jack, but then you don't need that either, do you?:p

Personally I wouldn't own a rifle without iron sights, even though all my hunting rifles have scopes.
I like the way they look, plain barrels seem naked to me and I like them as back up if anything goes wrong.

LOL, good one....the coffee came out my nose when I read your reply.
The reason I remove them is because to ME they are unnecessary, add weight, catch on things and are ugly. :)
Its all good!

Yes, coffee out the nose is the standard punishment for those who would disparage iron sights. Let this be a lesson to you. :)

The spare tire and the crank I need if I want to change a tire, if I get a flat.

Iron sights I don't 'need' as I have no intention of ever using them. And I hate having to pay for them... On high powered bolt action rifles it should be an option rather than automatically added to all barrels.

Do you carry a spare tire and jack because you intend to get a flat tire? But that is not the point I wish to make.
You pretty much nailed it when you said "I hate having to pay for them..." As I hate having to pay for bases, rings and a scope before the rifle that I just paid $500, $800, $1200, $1600, or more for can actually be used as a rifle. As for the option of having iron sights included on a rifle, I'd be very happy with that so long as the $40 option for the manufacturer didn't turn into a $400 option for me.

it is my opinion the most people don't spend enough time behind a trigger in general regardless of what kind of firearm, open sites or scoped. This is something I have observed but have never quite figured out why.....shooting is fun why not do it more. some of the most fun my buddy and I have is taking a bunch of 22s and a brick of shells each and just shooting. again I figure a lot of people don't have the fundamentals of shooting because they don't practice the fundamentals. anyways I have been buying a centerfire rifle every year after the duck guiding season so I have something to show for it and I have bought parker hales with open sights and new model 70s and A Bolt IIs without. If the rifle I like has open sites on it so be it if I like it I buy it. they (the sites) just don't bother me but I can understand that some people dislike them. same ole same ole .....to each their own.

Someone on here has to know but I am interested in the full stocked CZ in 6.5x55 I just think its a sharp looking rifle....having never held one I am hoping that the trigger guard is all metal. is this the right assumption?

No I intend to change it if I do...

Unlike if my scope failed I would not and have no intention to use iron sights...

Really nice iron sights installed are probably worth $100 at factory cost. Cheapo's less than $40 I am sure...

Its a money grab for the gun manufacturers and the businesses I tell yea. Why would gun manufactures make more rifles with irons when they can make you spend more money on having to buy a set of rings and a scope to make your gun useful. What gun company owns Burris? Beretta. What gun company owns Bushnell? Browning..

Browning doesn't own Bushnell, never has.

I don't want irons on any gun I purchase... every gun I have with irons, they were aftermarket installs replacing factory sights... I have numerous OEM take-off sights sitting around or sold at a loss... for the guns that I want with irons mounted, I want to choose the sights that go on them... I have Skinner peeps on many, Williams Fire sight ramps on some, NoDak and MArbles on others... none came with the factory gun... perhaps guns should come without iron sights or scopes, but tapped for both options with filler screws for all holes... then the buyer chooses his sighting products and installs them at home... this way we would pay the minimum base price and add what we like and/or need.
