Question for the LEE classic turret guys

Will the classic turret handle .308 and 45-70 rounds. I am a newb getting into reloading and starting to collect equipment while the holidays are here. I will be starting with 9mm and .223 then moving up to 45ACP, .308 and 45-70 eventually. The Lee classic turret was at the top of my list as it had really good reviews here and the price is great for a newb getting into reloading. Some people said it was not quite as robustly built as some other presses like the RCBS and redding and I was wondering if that effects loading the larger rounds...
 
I have used the Lee turret press for 25 yrs and loaded everything with it (416 Rigby) They are a great press for the price.
I would not think twice of buying another one.Having the 3 die spaces is very handy.
I still use the old press more than the expensive RCBS that I have mounted beside it.

I do .300WM and .300RUM for a couple of friends. Their dies and turret plates, their ingredients and components. I just keep the dies and cases here.
 
I have a classic cast press and load up to 45-90 length cases with it. I have two 650's and a 550 as well and if I had to make a choice to only keep only one press, it would be the Classic.
By the way, Classic Cast is a 4 hole press not 3, as was previously stated.
 
i got one and load 308 with no problem you wont regret buying one its worth every penny buy the kit cause it will cost you around 200 for just the press...... hound 13

I didn't know RCBS had turret presses. However, it is not built as well as a RockChucker. The CLASSIC CAST TURRET PRESS on the other hand is built BETTER than any other press out there for less money. I used a classic turret press for 15yrs without any problem.

You must be new! LOL! It was only a half dozen years or so ago that the 4 hole turrets came out. Us old guys had to buy adaptor kits for our existing presses.

I have a lotta 3 hole turret's, so I never updated mine. Still has all the white metal part's also!

My turret is still 3-hole. I have the update kit, but never installed it. My Classic Cast Turret is brand new and came with 4-hole turrets. Haven't used it yet since I will need to switch all the dies.

I've had mine for at least 6 yrs. Were not the older rotary 3 hole presses an Aluminum based press and all Cast iron presses 4 hole?

I agree with you that the classic cast may be the best all-around press available. I've used /owned RCBS, Lyman other Lee presses and as stated earlier the Dillons . The leverage is adequate for any case I've tried in it and the smoothness of operation is better than any other I've used. Not as fast as the progressive's but considerable faster than the single action press.

Well, I could be off a bit on the time. I DO know that it has changed since I moved to AB. So, sometime in the past 11 years, I bought the update kit.

Actually, checking the Lee site, I see that you can buy the classic turret press in both the three and four hole configuration. But the Classic CAST turret ONLY comes in 4-hole.
