Whenever I hear about a firing pin retaining pin breaking, it was during a dry fire.

Not to mention it is the biggest pain in the ass to get it out (In one piece).

I do not own a Polish model (yet) but I do have both a wartime production and a postwar (50's) Russian models. The post war finish seems to be quite a bit nicer, if the Polish ones are significantly better I would be surprised. Both shoot as well as any 1930's service issue design with teeny tiny little sights can be expected to. Happy with the low price I paid for both of them, and the cheap Czech ammo they love!

Btw you cannot dry fire the Tokarev pistol. It was not designed to be dry fired.

Just pop in a fired case or snap cap and dry fire away.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know this and have been dry firing my Polish tt33 but I'll stop now. Anyone have a link to a schematic so I can check the retaining pin?

So marstar is offering izzy to-33 with free shipping for 199 or a Tula for 179 This includes oiler, lanyard, spare magazine and holster, whereas L'archerot is offering a polish tt33 with nothing but the magazine it comes in for 199, and its a local shop so shipping is not an issue.

You may want to consider an unissued Russian Tok. Weimajack has some for sale.
If your thinking collector value, an unissued/unfired Russian TT-33 would bring a higher premium in future IMO.
