Three SVT 40 Scope mount options.

What size scope fits in the repro mount? Why does it have limited scopes for it. I like that mount the best of the three but I don't want a straight 3.5x scope.

I think it's a 1" / 25.4 mm tube. ( wrong it's 26.5mm ) The mount design is unusual, (unique even ) It has hinged half rings on top and a dished plate on the bottom that the scope rests in, the plate is inlet-ed on the left side for the windage turret of this particular type of scope.

I hear what you are saying about the 3.5 x scope, but I would be very surprised if you were unhappy with the complete rig once you had it. Especially at the sale price Corwin Arms is selling them for right now.

Each of the three options here has it's advantages and disadvantages.

SVT 40 Proper Mount is 26.5mm it will take SVT 40 scope only. However if some one is willing to get inserts for 1inch scopes and use a dremel to remove one part of the mount any 1inch scope could be used

What's the size of the mount that you sent me ?

Great price on the repro mount, considering what's been available to us thus far. If I don't overspend at the gun show tomorrow I'm ordering one Sunday.

This one's out there too: htt p://www.amazon.com/Firefield-PU-Mosin-Nagant-SVT-40-Scope/dp/B006GOK5FE

Made in China, less than complementary reviews.

Firefield Mosin Scopes and Mounts were originally made for Airsoft. Quality of the Mount is semi decent, it is a simple cast no heat treatment. Scopes have self-centering reticle, quality of the glass is Chinese Production Average but nothing like Russian. Few stores sale this scopes as Made in Ukraine but they are really Made in China.
One or two of sites sponsors sale this set it is very common in US

Firefield it is true airsoft. Had one for few months, I only used the scope it stood up to 3 shooting sessions then it stopped grouping and started to pattern

I'm a bit confused about which mount you have coming from East Wave, what type of rail does it use ?[/QUOTE]

Same side mount but goes up to weaver rail. item #0701 and 4-10x posp scope with weaver base

I'll assume that anyone using an unauthentic style scope and mount isn't just doing it for stuff n giggles, so who here is hand loading for the SVT?

I'd like to give it a try. The adjustable gas system should ease things.

Still want the Russian WWII type optical setup for it, though.

I get that, but what sort of mounting rail will you be using ? How does it attach to the rifle ? Please post a picture :)

PS I just received a red dot, Item #0705 for another rifle. I have returned it as has nothing to stop the mount from moving forward under recoil when used with an SVD mounting rail.

It looks just like a regular SVD mount but has no stop pin to keep it secured on the mounting rail. East wave does not mention this. I get the feeling that they don't know a lot about firearms.

I hand loaded a few cases, but found that the SVT 40 was very hard on brass due the the chamber fluting. Since then I discovered that Bulgarian circle 10 surplus 150 grain shoots absolutely fan####intastic, so I have no need to reload.
