so i recently decided that my small collection should contain a NR semi auto carbine chambered in a pistol cartridge.

i am liking the beretta cx-4 storm and the thureon defence GA carbine (in .45).

any and all feedback would be appreciated. thanks.

get one so that you can catch your mags with. Sub2000 with glock, or Cx4 with barretta pistols

No cx4 nr in .45 that I know of. You would have to rebarrel a restricted. I thought about a .45 carbine for a while but went with a 9mm instead just for cheaper ammo as it will only be shooting paper anyway.

I have the thureon in .45. I got it last year before thureon raised the pice over $1000.
Much better than the jr carbine, with the magpul bus sights it makes for a great plinker. I did have to put a cheek pad on it to get a proper sight picture.

It does not like aftermarket mags. At all. Mine will eat up whatever ammo I put in it with glock mags however.

I have not handled the storm to make a comparison. Just my opinion of the thureon.

I've always wondered if there's anything you can legally hunt with a 9mm rifle.

You could hunt deer with one if you wanted. I have not heard of restrictions based on muzzle velocity, only caliber. For example, in Alberta I believe it is .230 caliber or greater. I'm not saying I would go deer hunting with a 9mm, but legally you could.

You can get Thureon, Kel tec, JR Carbine in non restricted.
Beretta cx4 is a restricted carbine.. the ar pistol carbines are restricted..
And I think if you could get a Hi point carbine here it would be restricted.

It all depends where and what you are going to do with it.

I have a kel tec and I love it, but from what I hear there are lemons out there.. But Kel tec customer service is great.. (what I hear)
I don't think you can go wrong with a JR carbine.. I hear nothing but good things, but again... what I hear, not what I know.
I don't know anything about thureon..

SO my 2 cents.. Go with a kel tec and hope not to get a lemon. :)
Safe shooting friend.

Ive shot the CX4 in 9mm twice about 8 years apart at shooting edge and honestly both times I loved it. Never had a single issue with it and knowing it was a range gun it has deff been put through the ringer and still the most accurate thing I've ever shot. Now that you can get them in NR I'm saving my pennys....er nickles.

Get one with the highest video game presence, so when you sell it after a season you'll have the cash for the rifle you will wind up with.

JR Carbine. Uses Glock mags and AR parts (trigger, grip, stock/buffer, etc) and its relatively inexpensive (read: high value)

The early model 45s had issues but:

- they have since redesigned the buffer to prevent these issues
- took care of everybody affected without BS
- will send any owner the updated parts to resolve the issue

To do a full takedown, you need to remove the stock and unscrew the upper from the lower, which to me is the only drawback but it takes two seconds and you don't need to do that after every shooting session.

just going the other way here......if your a classic /retro guy ,get an m1 carbine(sim to a 357 mag).....there availible now non restricted. on the other hand ammo is hard to find federal/AE is the only company i think makes it affordable. and not really a rifle scope rifle. sure its been done though.... M1 just a thought...............

I have a Kriss, it shoots great. But warning! If it breaks down expect 1-2 years of it sitting around till you get parts. Also have you thought about short carbine length lever actions? Because they are AWESOME!!
